Well gang, did the "plugs-out" test a few weeks ago in the driveway...all went well. Gassed up, watered up, and headed out last Wednesday for 5 nights of boondocking in the Canadian wilderness. (OK...we were only 100yds off the pavement, but we were in the bush LOL) Jacks leveled up perfect, slides worked smoothly, awning out nicely, and the Winegard dish locked onto the Bell satts nicely. We ran the genny for about an hour in the AM and an hour around supper time. Ran the TV/dish on inverter for 2 hours in the evenings. The furnace ran a LOT at night as it went down to about 40F at night. Lowest I saw on the batts in the AM was 12.4v...so I think we are reasonably "watt efficient". (this is with the two factory 12v G24 batts) I've just replaced all the incandescent bulbs tonight with LED's this evening, so I think we'll be even more efficient next trip.
Anyways...all in all, we are VERY pleased with the new rig. I kept waiting for some sort of small warranty issue, but none popped up. (in stark contrast to our friend's new Forest River 5er....it has a very long list of issues after the same maiden trip)
Pics: me and Norm....buddy's youngest looking on from BIG chair, The Rig, DW inside, a view of the liquid sunshine one evening.

My last two rigs had P32 chassis' and I'm going to say that the solid front axle Furd is a lot nicer...shouldn't be, but it is. It's smoother, and handles the "semi truck wind" better. The V10 feels about the same for pick up and cruising power as the 8.1, but the 8.1 had better passing power/hill power. The V10 does it no problem, but it's really revving and I can just FEEL the fuel getting sucked, so I just back out a bit and do things a gear higher and a bit slower. I've never been a blue oval fan, but I'll give it a passing grade so far.

I hear you with the revs of the V-10 did the same on my Fords I had.
As to gas mileage check the Brazels web site or 5Star Tuning they may have a chip for better mileage or more seat of the pants power, cheaper than Banks systems I had.

I've been eyeballing both those sites already....but the DW keeps reminding me of the warranty that would likely be voided, so I'll hold off for now.

My maiden voyage was not quite so smooth. Factory left a cut-out part in the black holding tank which blocked the black tank valve from draining fully and unable to close . You can imagine what happened!!
Got it fixed but I have a problem that Ford cannot find. After stopping for a meal on the road. When trying to accelerate back onto the freeway again, the engine starves for fuel. I must 'feather' the accelerator to keep it going. Floor it, it will die. After reaching speed, it won't miss a beat until the next stop.
Another question. The two air vents on the dash in front of driver don't deliver air. It all goes to the defrosters. Any other person experience this? What kind of mileage are you getting?
I have to get used to the noise of the V10. Down sized from a diesel pusher. It's an easy coach to manuever and comfortable to live in considering its 30' in length. We are using a comfortable camping chair with foot rest as a second chair for TV viewing in the evening.

Lundy, as far as your vents off AC look for a vacuum tube disconnect off your AC/Heater control or on Evans unit, one of the doors is not operating.
The Ford acceleration problem, post in Ford Forum someone may have a answer.

You're lucky. I have had an a/c problem that I have posted about elsewhere on this forum. First, a/c started spitting water on passenger's feet. Then a/c went totally out. Got that fixed, but Newmar says there is no fix for the water except running it on max. Have been a number of smaller issues that are mostly nuisance items that I fixed. I expected better from Newmar.

We have had 3 great trips in our Canyon Star just got back from Myrtle beach yesterday everything work perfect The only thing I am concerned about is the big slide moves really slow and sounds like it is straining to open and close but it works okay We love our Newmar

Rodney, the slides will move slowly and maybe make some noise moving up the ramp of incline check your rollers to see if anything is amiss.
Rollers should be in brackets and not slipped out of brackets.
The low torque of motor is powerful enough to crush anything caught behind the fascia face.
If you have a full wall slide you may have two motors.

Lundy.....I Just had the same thing happen to my vents on the dash not getting air. I have a Baystar 2901. Talked to the head mechanic at the dealer. He told me to find a softball sized diaphragm under the hood....Mine was on the left side under the box with the drain hose for the condensation. follow the air line from that diaphram to a pump mounted to the firewall. if I remember right it had a hose going through it and some wires too. With the engine running have someone inside changing the dial as to where you want the air to come out. Then tap on that pump a few times, after changing it 5 or 6 times from setting to setting and tapping on it mine works all the time on it's own now. The mechanic said they just hang up on new units from time to time. Even with it working now it is slow to react so give it time when you change from one setting to another. Good luck. He told me if it didn't start working he'd send me a new one, it doesn't look hard to replace at all.
