Bdrm. Thermostat Does..NUTTIN!!

4502, 08 Ex here:

Little, wall mounted, white, louvered, thermostat/sensor in bdrm. area doesn't seem to "sense" or do a darned thing to control either heating, or A/C in the bdrm. area.

Anyone know how to trouble shoot this sensor or have suggestions how to repair, or replace this thing?? Thanks.

Steve

The sensor is tiny, but is attached to a long wire which is part of the assembly. My front sensor was replaced and I couldn't believe the major operation for such a tiny (I thought) part. They tried to "fix" it first; on 2 or 3 occasions they "re-set" the reading, but it only lasted for a week or two. My guess is they will try that first.

Hi Steve,
Depending on where the sensor is mounted it may not be able to be replaced. The sensor is the end of a very long wire. The other end is attached to the rear HVAC control board. On an Essex, I do not know where this is located. There is no way to put a new sensor on the end of the cable. In my coach, a new sensor and wire were put in the rear bedroom. After trying several locations, it was put in the return duct, just above the plastic filter. A plastic sleeve was placed around the sensor to make it "less sensitive". This has worked quite well.

What does the E-Plex tell you what the room temp is? The sensor has a long band on it and I found out if you remove the cover and pull it out and roll up the whole sensor and leave it in the plastic cap, it senses closer to the room temp.. Most of the sensor is inside the wall and if the sun is shining on the slide it reads high.
Newmar won't give out the programing for the E-Plex and E-Plex won't give it out either. If it's in the board up front, they pull it and send it to E-Plex in Florida for repairs. You can't even change a bad sensor because it screws up the comp count.

What a RIP
