The monitor for heating & AC, tank levels in the bedroom went blank, if you touch, it activates but only lights up, the screen cannot be read.
Anyone have any experience with this issue?

I have had that kind of thing in the past with other electronics. Often it's a loose connection or a loose socketed item and you can open it up and fix it easily.

Sometimes it's a bad solder joint or a cracked circuit board,,, that is not as easy to fix. Though I've fixed a few in the past

With your Essex you may have a cable that plugs in to module and socket on wall for cable. Unplug and clean with contact spray all connecting points.

The problem is not with connection, but brightness or contrast. The screen is so bright it can't be read, but looking from an angle the functions are barely visible but not enough so that every detail can be read.

I was told by Newmar that the screen has a brightness or contrast adjustment, but I am not able to find it. I have looked through the books and cd that came with the 2006 Essex, hoping to see an illustration of the screen functions so I would have an educated guess as to where to tap the screen for adjustment.

If its the screen adjustment you should have a instruction booklet for the monitor you have as you would with a TV you have. Who is manufacture and model, should have on bottom or back of monitor.
Maybe able to download from their website.

007,
Should is a monster word, I agree that I should have a booklet illustrating the bedroom monitor, and it should be included in the 2006 Essex CD, but it's not in either.
My post was to solicit help from an owner of a 2006 Essex 4508 with a working rear monitor to let me know if there is a brightness or contrast control. And to find where the darken or + or - would be on the screen assuming it actually exists, and in which screen function ie: tanks, generator, etc.

I should have been more specific.

Thanks,
JVR

if it's the same keypad as in my King Aire, press the bottom right corner for the preferences page. Then press about 1/2" in and 1/2" down from the top left corner for the contrast control. Actually, you want to lower the contrast, I think, so make it 1/2" in and 1" down (from top left).

Thanks for all your help, but it didn't work, I guess the next step is to call parts and get a price and availability.
It is very helpful to have a support forum like this, by removing possible simple solutions, it makes you feel so much better about biting the proverbial bullet.
