Back in the 50's driving a Diamond-T line truck I hit a sea gull no splat just bounced over the truck. One of the lineman drew a pic on the door to start the count. "007"

Y'know how crows will sit on the side of the highway with roadkill? I was fast approaching a crow and he wasn't flying away... Just at the last minute he flew up, bumped into my windshield and flipped back over the roof. I looked in my rearview mirror and to my surprise, there was a Sheriff right behind me! The crow hit the Sheriff's windshield, then he turned on his red flashing lights and siren, and proceeded to pull me over. He gave me a ticket.

-for flippin' him the bird!!!

Reminds me of back in 1952 when they were running the Carrera PanAmerica sports car race across Mexico. Karl Kling and a co-driver were driving a Mercedes 300S Gullwing coupe at high speed (135 MPH) on back roads when a buzzard lifted off of his roadkill buffet and hit the race car's windshield. It shattered the windshield and put blood and guts all over the drivers plus the feet or beak caused some damage to the co-driver's face. Being a race event, they had no time to stop so drove on through the 100 degree heat till that evening's stop caked in dried buzzard guts. The mechanics had fun cleaning the car out that night (I assume the drivers took a serious shower ) and the next morning the car appearred with a new windshield and "buzzard bbars", which were a set of aluminum tubings running vertically in front of the windshield.

Following is a shot of a scale model of this car showing the buzzard bars.

You could probably do this model to your motorhome but I don't recommend it because most campgrounds would think it's a prison bus.

Reminds me of a camping trip my buddy and I took to Clear Lake, CA, back about 1963 or so. I was driving my first car, a 1955 Oldsmobile 98, down the "Winters cutoff" (I-5 was just a dream then) at about 80 mph when a pheasant flew up right in front of the car aimed at the passenger side windshield. My friend screamed and put his hands in front of his face - he just knew he was going to eat 'pheasant under glass' The bird was caught in the slipstream over the hood, went up the windshield, over the roof, down over the trunk, and never touched the car I looked in my rear view mirror and watched the bundle of feathers sprout wings and fly away One lucky bird, but it was a long time before my friends pulse slowed down to normal!!

When returning from our winter trip from California I stopped at our local WalMart before going home to purchase a Turkey hunting license the season was to open soon 5 min. after leaving WalMart on the road to my house a large Tom Turkey about to fly into my windshield I saw him coming and did a power stop hitting the turkey at about 15 miles per hour. He just bonced off and kept right on going, thought he was mad and was getting revenge for buying that license.

Yes, the reason is because the birds are attracted to the crisp, clean "Mountain Aire".
