Black/gray tank drain hose

I just read a post where someone installed a Sani-Con on their Dutch Star.
My coach came with macerator toilets and I was wondering if those of you who also have macerator toilets have switched to a smaller dump hose.

Additionally, if you are using the smaller dump hose in conjunction with your macerator toilets, have you had any problems with the hose becoming clogged or any other issues?

I have the Sanicon on my 2014 DSDP and macerated toilets. I had the pump installed (and on 4 previous RVs) because ov the cleanliness of operation and the ability to pump uphill and long distances on my green hose.

Thanks for the response but basically I'm trying to see if I can use the smaller hose without adding a Sani-con as the toilets grind up all the solid waste and, I don't need to pump on an incline.

Thanks for the link but I already knew about it as I mentioned I had just read it.

My Question, for the 3rd time is this. If you have a macerator toilets and NO SANI-CON, are you able to use the smaller diameter hose to dump your black/gray tank.?

I would think NOT. the sanicon is what allows you to use the smaller hose

With the issues of sanicon smells I no longer use it. I have tried gravity dumping with a 5/8 inch hose and sometimes it works and sometimes it plugs up.

Ljowdy,
I need answer too. Want to know if I can drain tanks using a 1 inch drain hose without using a pump. Like you I think the macerated toilet should have ground everything from black tank. Gray should not matter.

This is an interesting question...
We use the old model Sanicon on this coach and our previous. I would not use anything else.

Could you drain without the pump? I would think yes.

I would guess that a standard 5/8 type hose may be too small, there are still some decent size chunks in that tank, 1" might work, I would think 1 1/2" would definitely work.

I'm just not sure why you want to.
The whole RV world is set up around a 3" discharge.
You would need to have adapters on both ends of the hose.
Standard sewer hoses compress for storage and may take up less space than any 1 1/2" hose you may find.
You will still need to have a downhill gravity flow using one of those "ladders" or something.
The distance to the connection may need to be shorter due to "flow" speed or force.
And the cleanup process each time would be equivalent to the 3" hose

It's the whole Sanicon system including the pump that deals with all these issues and makes my life cleaner and easier.
It would take some experimenting, keep us posted as to progress. I would actually like to hear how it works out.
