Blue Ox near disaster, Great Outcome!

I asked the tech at the Tampa RV show servicing our towbar if there was a torque specification. He said there wasn't. I think there should be, if there isn't one, because twice after service I could barely move it. Another tech told me it would wear in, after a couple months I backed off the large nut slightly so the bar would lower without being forced. My thoughts were, it wasn't like that when it was new.

There were no instructions so I called Blue Ox, CS said to tighen to the point that there is some resistance in movement but not to the point that joints won’t move. Having watched Blue Ox techs rebuild my towbar this recommendation seems consistent with what I saw.

That's interesting. I have the Aventa towbar which uses a completely different setup, but it has always been very stiff to move up and down. Based on what you are saying, its ok that way.
