Has anyone ever used Borax as a black tank treatment? A neighbor with a fifth wheel says she uses it all the time (one cup) and that it is very effective and cheap.

I've never used anything in either tank and have never had a smell or problem. That's about as cheap as it gets! Just a thought.

I'm with RVDude. I do a lot of boondocking also and can say in the almost 10 years since I stopped using anything in my tank I have never had a an odor or any other problem.

Nope! Never used borax in my tanks. But, borax will stop any flea infestation on carpets.

I pour a couple tablespoons of Ridex into my black tank after dumping. Being fulltimers, the tanks are constantly in use.
