I just threaded the strap through the slot in the battery tray and didn't replace the clip.

Any Auto or Marine shop should have them of different sizes.

Think Bungy cord as temp.
I lost the battery tray and strap in the middle of Wyoming-Used two bungys and they held all the way tho Washington.

I went to Home Depot and bought 1 inch wide ratcheting tie down straps, wrapped them around batteries and the tray and sinched them tight. Works great.

On my 2000 Dutch Star the acid ate through the straps and I drove 4 1/2 years without straps. I got rid of those acid spitting batteries in 2001 and bought AGM batteries. Batteries are still going strong in my 05 DS ten years later.
