BOUNCING MCD Shades: What A Racket!
It would appear to be the "nature of the beast"; however, surely some have "done a cure" for the rattling of the four (4) up-front MCD shades???
If there have been serious discussions with answers, please refer me to them. I have recently inserted thick pieces of dense foam along each of
the shades, and there has been a noticeable quieting. Anyone found a
a more "permanent" solution? I'd greatly appreciate hearing from you!

BOUNCING MCD Shades: What A Racket!
On our former coach, we had the dreaded front curtains. We went to MxKinney and had MCD repack those with large set of shades on front and the door and two side windows.
We loved the new shades but you’re right, they rattled going down the road. We complained to MC D and they sent us a supply of felt pads about the size of a dime with adhesive Backing. We put these on the edges and that solved the noise problem.

On our Essex we used rubber pads on the metal bar on the shades were they touched each other and the window frames. Most of used 75 or more because of the shades moving around when traveling on our roadways. Got some in black and cream to match the different shade colors.

Thanks, Dan & Tom...you've given me hope. First, I'll see if MCD will supply me with what Dan is using. I seem to recall that there's a certain amount of movement within the brackets, and adjustments can be made after removing the shades...which likely is more than a little job. Anyone tried that...& results?? Thanks, Larry

I'm not sure if we have the same systems, but our shades rattle when we drive. Our answer is just to open the shades about two inches to stop the rattle. If we need the shades while driving, we lower them anyway, so it's a moot point.
As I mentioned, ours may be different.

Buy a couple of feet of adhesive backed velcro - you only need the soft loop side. Attach it to the awning ends that make contact and enjoy the silence!

On my Dutch Star, I found that the wood panel that the shade supports attach to, will come loose over time. The take the standard square head driver to tighten.
We also lower the shades just a few inches and make sure that the tube that is sewn in near the bottom of the shade, that runs horizontally, is exactly even with the tube on the other shade. This way, the two together, make for a thicker width in the slot, so it moves less.
Lastly, after changing the Sachs shocks out for the new Koni Evo's, I eliminated a lot of the bounce.

I wonder if one could get MCD to send a set of Koni Shocks instead of the felt pads?

I was getting a rhythmic bounce in our shades while driving until I installed a set of Centramatic active wheel balancers. Took about 75% of that problem away.

Ditto. I find tha as long as the shades are not resting on the upper stop they make no noise at all, so I just leave them an inch or so below the top.

Appears one of my choices is to leave the shades up and not block the sun, which eliminates/lessens the noise...or block the sun and put up with the
noise. Talked to MCD today and they are graciously sending me the pads
previously referred to. So...we'll see if any "relief" comes from the pads.
Thanks for all the responses. Larry
