Brake Caliper Bolts

FYI- I was having my annual chassis service performed on my 2015 DS this morning at Freightliner Houston. The service tech noticed that 4 of the 6 bolts holding the left front brake caliper were missing. Obviously, this is a dangerous situation. The bolts are motor coach specific so he had to special order them.
The tech suggested I tell all my friends to have their caliper bolts checked to make sure they are tight and not missing.
He said, when he sees or hears about something like this he will generally find it or hear about it happening on other coaches. This is just a suggestion to be on the safe side.

Mine had a clunk in the front end when my coach was new. It only happened when traversing driveways. I thought initially it was the Comfort Steer since it was new to me.

Later, while checking under the coach, three of five bolts holding the steering box to the frame were loose by more than a 1/2". One was finger tight and one was tight. I tightened up all the bolts and painted a stripe on them. I never had the issue again....so it must have been that way from the factory. I later had to have it aligned.

We had our first service on our 2016 Essex done at Gaffney the 13th and they found two bolts missing out of the caliper on the drivers side drive axle.

Newmar buys the axles as sub assemblies and probably never checks them before use.

I'm not sure what you are tailing about here.

I have been here at Newmar for over a week and on my first day here I followed a Freightliner Chassis coming to the plant on a flatbed trailer. I followed it for about 20 miles right to Newmar's plant. It was a complete 450 ISL9 with axles and drive wheels in place. Since Wednesday the 11th of May I have seen several more arrive all complete assemblies directly from Freightliner.

Not sure where your idea is coming from.

I had the same service tech do my service two weeks ago with nothing said about the bolts. I will check them tomorrow to ensure everything is okay before leaving on next trip.

Larry thanks for the tip.
