The brake light on the top and middle of the engine access compartment on a '03 DSDP is made up of many tiny red LED lights. Some of these lights do not light. Is there a method of replacement for just those lights or is it "buy the whole unit" type of repair?

Never had it apart Ed but I'd say its one whole strip.
Newmar Parts should be able to help.

The 3Volt LEDs are wire 4 in series. When one goes the adjoining 3 follow. I replaced mine direct from Newmar. Just under $100.00 last year. Part #29685 ~~ '04 KSDP.

Yea Romeo, I felt that way too. The only time I felt Newmar was gouging. To make matters worse I replaced the LED brakelight on my PU Shell a couple of months later. It was very similar and $22, from the manufacturer.

Did replace mine too this Summer - part ordered from Newmar at under $100 and installation took 5 minutes with new electric connections - LED now is bright and shiny
I do not know about any other manufacturers that would make this piece exactly as is for my DSDP -
