You guys will love this one.

The right strut on the cabinet door that covers the control panel broke. I thought crud... I will have to buy a new one on Monday. That means a 60 mile round trip to the local RV dealer. So, I decided to take it out an see if could repair. Total time was about 20 mins. I removed the broken strut, punched out the broken rivet, inserted a 1/4" pop rivet with the shaft removed and use a small ball peen hammer to peen the rivet and secure the two parts together just like the orginal. Total cost about 1 cent.

Nice job. It's great that you post stuff like this as I'm sure myself and others may one day face a similar task.
Thnx.

I just wonder how long it would have taken and how much it would have cost if it was done under warranty

OK, I'll bite, how did you remove the shaft?

Great fix, very ingenious.

John,

That was the easy part... I just used a pair if pliers and pushed it out after supporting the head in vise. The shaft is not in there very tight. It took longer to remove and reinstall that it did to install the rivet. You just can't smash the rivet with a hammer as parts need to move.
