So the sliding glass door on the screen door has a knob that some how snagged me as I came down the steps and shattered into a kazillion bits. I figured out how to remove the guides strips top and bottom, bought the sheet of lexan to cut and replace it with, BUT, any one know what size it is? I get 11 and one half inches by 13 and five eighths, anyone else know a better size, its the standard screen door that everyone has, mine is on a 2000 KSDP.

I would cut it after measuring with guide strips in slots and allow some space for easy glide. If to tight use a fine sand paper to trim for easy glide.

Call Newmar parts and they can give you the sizes. But don't order one from them. They want $103 for the part, handling, tax and shipping. Oh, they do include a new knob.
By the way, you only need to remove the bottom plastic insert to remove and install the glass. Don't need to remove the top one.
(Edit) I just measured the one in my 2005 DS and it is 11 5/8" W x 14" H. The hole for the knob is centered top to bottom and 1/2" from the edge. I don't know if mine is the same as your KS.

Since so many of us snag onto the knob, I certainly wouldn't use that again.

Yup, that dang knob on the slider sure catches on clothing ALOT!! Broke one slider already and....since pressed for time...we got stuck buying replacement (lexan ?) slider from North Trail in Ft. Myer's on our way to a reservation at Blue Water Key. SHOCKER!!! It was a wopping $98.00 !!!!!! What a rip off... Guess we could've plugged hole w. cardboard or something, but...it can get "buggy" in the Keys...so...we didn't.
Been thinking about installing a small handle on the slider to replace that dang knob. Doesn't need to be a big handle and I could use existing hole in lexan and drill 2nd hole for other end of handle. OH!!..thinking of doing the same to replace than dang knob on the sliding drawer can goods cabinet located across from our refrigerator on way into and out of bath area from kitchen. THAT knob also catches cuffs etc. on way through. Handle would work better here too.

Joe did the same thing to ours. Luckily it was only in a few pieces so we glued it back together and then reinforced it with clear packing tape. Doesn't look great, but it's keeping the Canadian bugs out. After our trip to Alaska we'll probably buy a piece of lexan and have it cut to size.

Mine broke as well. Went to local glass co. and got a replacement (glass) with hole for knob. Took about 12 days. They can treat down to 1/4 in glass for safety. Hardware guy told me that glass in actually less expensice that plastic/lexan. Total with knob installed - $31.

I just caught the sleeve of my t-shirt tonight while carrying things out of the MH. The darn knob grabs we every once in a while... :(
I'm glad to know that it can break by catching it. I will try to find some sort of flush handle/pull to replace it. If I come up with anything I will let everyone know.
A small one-hole 1/2" thick by 2-1/2" long bar made of plexaglas or wood might work... trying to think of just how to construct it. Might have to run out to the shop and see what I can come up with.
Maybe this will stimulate some thought by some of the woodworkers out there.

Okay, I was oldcouple, but it will not let me log in, says it is a new site, third time in a week I have had to reset the passwords etc. so anyhow, I will cut the lexan that cost 24 bucks for a sheet big enough to make four of them, thinking maybe just a hole big enough for little finger to fit in to open with, or maybe some type of knob that is rounded just enough to push on.

Well the size turned out to be correct, dirt simple to replace, used long needle nose pliers to grab the top channel thing and pull it out, then the same to the bottom one, insert the new piece of lexan push in the lower shim thing, then the top, still have to invent a knob or drill a hole, but its too easy to fix.
