BSS handling/ride improvements

I’ve read through a lot on improving the handling of the gas class a coaches and I thought I’d share what I’ve done so far. In addition to the front and rear sumo springs I’ve also installed front and rear centramatic balancers. I also had the coach aligned and leveled when I purchased it. I’ve put about 1000 miles on the springs and balancers so far and I can say that going down the highway is now a one finger on the wheel affair. Vibration through the steering wheel is now gone and as I’ve posted before the sumos make a night and day difference in the way the coach rides and handles. The combination of these three things has transformed the way it rides and handles.

I got the SSF-170-40-2 front springs and the SSR-187-54-1 rear springs.

I got the 400422 balancers for the front and 400423 for the rear.

I just wrote up this post in another thread which is about the new Ford RV Chassis near 2009-10 to meet the competition from Workhorse chassis and because Ford was losing their shear of chassis market.

Did you install the Sumos yourself? If so how did it go? Did you consider the SSA41 vs the SSF 170-40-2 on the rear? If you had them done would you share the cost? I am really seriously leaning toward them.

But then I'll spend the next three years recovering after DW beats me to an inch of my life.

I purchased the springs from eTrailer.com. They were about $1100 shipped for the set. It cost about another $1000 for the install. My wife was apprehensive as well at first, until the first ride out with them. She was sold after that.

Thanks. I see the SSF 170-40-2 are a two piece unit. Do you have any problem if the front tires come off the ground with them re-aliening?

When the RV is sitting they’re touching together. Maybe if you’re going over a large rut or something they may come apart but I don’t think it would be much.
