A friend today put in an order for a new Dutch Star. Dealer's very vague on delivery date. Anyone have recent experience on delivery time for an ordered coach? Thanks

Joe

Joe, I asked our salesman and he said give them a few days to schedule the build and he would get the build date for me. I had asked so my son and I could visit the factory while our coach was being built. We saw the coach being built the second day we were there so they are pretty accurate. This was mid-Feb 2008, coach was delivered March 17.

BTW, build time is about the same for all Newmar coaches, the final assembly of everything from gas to diesel to 5-ers is on the same line. It's really neat to see, especially when you see your coach, if your friend can do it I'd highly recommend a trip to Nappanee while his coach is being built.

Have your friend but his salesman in a few days, he should be able to get the same info.

Stewart

Joe, Newmar has increased production to 5 days a week, so lead time is down to about 6 or 7 weeks. 2 or 3 weeks longer for Essex and King Aire. That's because of the paint and glazed cabinetry many of those coaches are ordered with.

The lead times are more stable when orders are coming in at a good pace as is happening now. Several months ago, it was hard to tell when a coach would hit your lot. If Newmar didn't get enough orders in one week, they would just close down production for a week. If that happened 2 or 3 times, coaches wouldn't be finished for 2 or 3 weeks later than originally scheduled. Thank goodness it looks like those days are gone for awhile! Lee Litchfield

Ordered my coach June 18, 09 and it was delivered to the dealer August 7, 09. Actual build time was only 2 weeks. They were building 3 coaches/day 4 days a week at that time.
