I have already announced that I'm a very inexperienced owner of a 2004 KSDP - so I won't dwell on it.

Back in the mists of time, I was a trans-oceanic sailor. We'd go out to sea and sail three or four thousand miles - and we had to take everything which we might need to repair tackle, machinery - anything that might be critical to our comfort or survival with us. Spare parts and even replacements for entire systems were often depended upon.

In the short time that we have had our coach, I have spent a good deal of time - often fruitlessly - on the internet trying to search out what is needed (or might be) by way of spare light bulbs, filters, etc. to keep our little piece of heaven humming.

I'm wondering if there is anyone out there who has built a list of spares and their associated part numbers for vehicles of the vintage of ours which they would share. There will no doubt be a good deal of instruction in seeing what experienced hands deem important to have on hand.

Thanks

Jim

It has always been my experience that if I had a spare anything, the one in operation would break. Case in point, had an '89 GMC S15 Jimmy with `160K miles on it, brother says "Better put a new fan belt on it, the old one might break!" So, I did. Sure enough the new one broke! 1000 miles away from home. But... I kept the old one , so I had a spare. It was still on when I traded @ about 200K miles

I only carry a spare tire, a few fuses, bulbs, and things that I have replaced that could be made operable, or at least had usable parts on them. Can't carry everything, and I am not smart enough to figure out what is going to break next.

Hey, great topic.

I was thinking of also building such a stash. How about a spare water pump?

And if I can fit it in the basement, an unmounted spare tire. I figure I can get road service, but what's the chance they'll have a tire that works?

Owning three Newmars have I not built a large inventory of spare parts just a few light bulbs for brake lamps and the high intensity lamps which seem to fail more than others. What ever else is needed will replace when necessary from auto parts or Rv supplier.
A fuse kit of Minnie and blade fuse's may come in handy also.
A volt-ohm meter to check for electrical component's, electrical tape and the handy DUCT tape roll.

If you dry camp a lot a spare water pump would be nice, as Bill M mentions.

We were boondocked at our favorite ski resort about 50mi from the nearest RV dealer with no toad when we had a water pump scare. It turned out the line from the tank had frozen (despite heaters and extra insulation) and unfreezing it saved what would have been an undesired break from the slopes. Guess what I'm getting the next time I see one on sale!
