Just got back from spending two days at the Newmar factory watching my baby come to life. My impressions coming away have reinforced my decision to buy a Newmar product. The people I have met have all been cordial and helpful and have gone out of their way to assist with any request I've had.

A crew of Amish gentlemen were putting on my roof yesterday and not only were they very informative of the process, they invited me up on the scaffold (with all apologies to OSHA) to watch the activity and even let me drive some screws. WOW !! - much more than I expected. Their attitude, cordiality, and experience - most of them said they had 20+ years at Newmar - made for a very pleasant trip.

They asked that I spread the word - "buy a Newmar" , hence this post.

Anxious to see the finished product in a week or two, I sure know how the guts look !!

We now are on our last leg home after going to 'Camp Newmar'. The three days we spent there were excellent. Newmar and John Deere (which we toured also) have alot in common - both run first class operations! Very impressed with their personal.

Thanks for all the well-wishes. Really think Newmar is a top-notch company. I hope and pray they can sustain thru the rough economic times. I know a few Amish fellows now who are fervently hoping so too.

I agree hope they can survive...Maybe the worse is done seems like the Rv Industry is improving some..It seems to be better than it was a few months back.

One thing I would like to see Newmar do is focus on the 5th wheel. Not everybody can afford a High Dollar Class A motorhome or even want one.

They have the reputation out there but not enough 5th wheel models to choose from.Maybe a couple of entry level and lighter models that can be towed with a 3/4 ton pickup. The Torrey Pine & Cypress require min. 1 ton not all Rv owners want a rig that heavy.Just think they should give it a try if it doesn't workout at least they tried.

They seem to cater more on motorhomes..Why not go full scale and give Keystone,Thor,Heartland,Jayco and a few other ones some competion.

It's kind of a catch 22. Since Newmar is a build to order company, it's hard to concentrate on a certain market if they don't get orders for that model - either dealer or customer orders. My assumption is that right now, they have no orders for 5'ers, thus none are being built.

Newmar is very conservative.

They will not enter a new market unless they are convinced it is worth the chance and with the tough RV market, I wouldn't expect anything new.

They dropped several models for 2010 that didn't sell well, and the surviving 2010 models are basically the same as the 2009 models.

The 2010 brochures are the 2009 brochures with a 2010 sticker on them.

Brucexx, I just purchased my Dutch Star in Feb and we love it. We live in Indiana about 5 hours from Newmar Factory. Being this close to Newmar helped in our decision. We had a few warranty issues, so in June we went to Camp Newmar to have them taken care of. This was a pleasent experience. They fixed everything I had listed, and some that I did not list. Great place to do business. I am sure you will enjoy your coach.. VACMAN
