Buy Your Third Coach First
Two weeks from today will be my one year anniversary taking delivery of my 2014 Dutch Star 4018. Therefore, it is time to trade up!
In the very short time I have been in the world of motor homing, I have heard repeatedly, "Buy your third motor home first". I laughed every time I heard it, yet here I am proving there is wisdom to that philosophy...it has to be much cheaper than the way I have chosen. When I placed my order for the Dutch Star, I traded a 2014 Pleasure Way Pursuit I had purchased brand new only three short weeks earlier. Hence…my third motor home - the Mountain Aire - should have been my first!
Last year when I purchased my Dutch Star, I did not feel there was significant cost value between the Dutch Star and the Mountain Aire. This year, with all that has been incorporated into the Mountain Aire life cycle change, I feel it has become one of the best values in the Newmar lineup.
I am purchasing from Chad DeMaat, Midway RV Center, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dealing with Chad over the past couple of weeks has been an experience totally and completely opposite of what I experienced with the dealer from whom I bought the Dutch Star. It has been a very professional, yet an incredibly comfortable process. Finally, the numbers were right. The folks at Midway RV are straight shooters and a true pleasure to work with.
So without further ado…
2015 Newmar Mountain Aire 4553
- Midway RV Dealer Delivery (I have read they do a great delivery; and if need be, they are only two hours from Newmar)
- Exterior Colors: London Aire “Mystique”, omitting Graphic Fade application (The Mystique colors look incredible within the Mountain Aire Graphics — totally different — and, IMHO, even better than on the London Aire)
- Interior Decor: To be custom designed with the incomparable Michelle Howard
- Manhattan Glazed Maple Cabinets
Options- All Electric with Flush Induction Cooktop & 4 Extra Batteries
- AGM House Batteries (8)
- LED Lights installed under Door Side Slide Outs
- Electric Heated Tile Floor
- Whirlpool Washer & Dryer
- Central Vacuum
- Exterior Entertainment Center with Sony 40” LED TV and JBL Sound Bar
- Sony 40” LED TV in Front Overhead
- WineGard Automatic Open Face SWM Satellite Dish for DirecTv-HD
- WineGard Digital Power Lift TV Antenna
- Combination Desk/Dinette with Buffet Table
- Door Side Dormi Sofa with Air Mattress and Off Door Side Recliners with Lamp Stand
- Chrome Exterior Baggage Door Handles
- Two (2) Large Pass-Thru Storage Trays
- Wall Safe in Bedroom Wardrobe
- Power Water Hose Reel
- Girard Awning Package - 2 Nova Side Awnings, Slide Out Covers, Entrance Door & Power Window Awnings
Specials- Queen Bed with larger night stands and pillow top mattress
- GE Advantium Microwave
- Hot Water Line Run to Generator Compartment
- Single Deep Pots & Pans Drawer where standard Two Drawer or Dishwasher Option would normally be located
- 12v receptacle, left side of dash in panel with Air Brake release and headlight rocker switches
- Four dining and four driver’s side living area under cabinet and lower ceiling lights to be wired on a dedicated single switch, separate from the main ceiling lights.
- Black, ILO White, Auto Motion Window Night Shades on all windows
- Omit Nail Heads from Dormi Sofa - Door Side
- Solid Wood or Leather Panel Closet Doors ILO standard Mirror Doors
Specials Denied- 110v/USB Combo Outlets on Headboard Wall above nightstands (denied because exterior wall was too narrow to accommodate) Hoping for alternative solution

I agree but who could predict? Problem is we our ideas and what is available changes so quickly. Part of the marketing scheme I am sure.
There will always be something nicer, bigger, faster, quieter, etc, etc for us to become interested in and consider. If we have the where withall I say go for it. That is what we worked for.
Our estate lawyer has suggested that the last 5 words of our will should read "Sorry I spent it ALL!"

Congratulations!!
Anyone who is in a financial position to be able to trade in their motorhome within weeks, should absolutely purchased their LAST motorhome first!
Why dicker around? Just purchase what you really want. You can afford it.

Congrats again, if Newmar didn't upgrade their models all the time it would not make it to interesting for market and may lose owners to another brand.
They have a loyal following so they want everyone satisfied thus the constant changes and upgrades in the lower end models.
You have a good dealer which is the best of starts and the option list should keep you in this coach for a while, until.
Good luck in your new adventure.

I can go on-and-on about how I convinced myself this was a justified and rational decision, but the bottom line is: 1)The Mountain Aire is an incredible coach; 2) Although I have worked my entire life earning every penny I have saved, I can afford it, and you can’t take your money with you when you die; 3) I don’t have a DW that that is telling me I can’t do it!

I also purchased a MADP from Chad and totally agree with your comments on Chad and Midway RV. Great people that are the type of individuals that can be trusted.
And it was my third coach. Seems to be a trend???

Why didn't you save your money and go right for the King Aire this time? You know you'll be there very soon.
If I had the means (which I certainly don't), I'd get the London Aire over anything else. I think it's the best bang for the buck among the high end Newmars and I prefer the interior styling over the Essex and King.

Congrats Jigs
I'm not a believer in buy your 3rd coach first. We bought a good used coach first to see if we liked the lifestyle. I then decided we needed comfort steer and tag axle. So along came coach number 2. We bought it off the lot due to fact that we didn't have time to wait for one to be built. Not sure when coach number 3 will come along but I'm sure it will. Probably sooner than I plan. When we get to Hoot 3 I may get the urge to buy number 3. Hope I can hold off for a couple years.
Did you order before Newmar ran out of 2015 Chasis or will you be getting a 2016. When is your estimated delivery date. we look forward to seeing it at hoots.

Wow another good example of focus long term not the short term. Congratulations on your choice and explanation. I'm normally amazed at least weekly on what I learn from others wiser and more experienced.
I'm also amazed at what can be changed and customize. A few questions on why because I didn't know that or would not know to ask. Why Hot water line, Black shades and what is Auto motion. Is the pillow top normal or is this an option from another coach. The lighting addition why? Thanks for your insights.
