Buying Advice Please! - How much below MSRP?

Hello All!

We're thinking of going full-time and homeschooling our kids. Pretty exciting stuff. I would love to have a 2017 Dutch Star 4310 or 4326 so I'm in the research phase. When I bought our Thor Challenger the MSRP was about 184,000, but I paid 129,000 - about a 30% discount. The big question:

What kind of discount can I expect to get from a Newmar Coach?

Thanks, guys! It's so helpful to have a starting point.

Bill

Who knows. Make an offer in the 30%-35% range and see if the dealer accepts it. You may want to shop around at 3 or 4 Newmar dealers providing all of them with the same spec sheet. Best of luck!

Thanks, but that's why I was asking. I was hoping to be able to get a feel from what other folks have been able to get their coach price reduced to.

Can anyone tell me what their discount was?

We put out a RFQ to five dealers. One dealer came back with a 25% discount and would not budge on a to be ordered coach. One dealer did not deal in the London Aire models. The other dealers came back in the 27% range which we pushed a little harder and got slightly better. Our problem was that not many dealers floor plan the London Aire models. They have to floor plan a model in order to sell that specific model. The DS is more widely sold so you have a better selection of dealers.

All of the dealers that gave us an offer had out trade in priced the same, 85% of low retail. We sold it privately for average retail.

Thanks so much! This is really helpful. So looks like I can push for 30%. I'll send out to as many dealers as I can. I don't mind flying anywhere to pick up.

You may want to help the OP and post the dealer name so that he can make contact. We're all looking for the best price. Thanks

Negotiated with 3 different dealers in FL. No trade. This was on a Newmar Canyon Star. Best deal was 28% off MSRP. I wallked away from the deal as I could not get any activity on my current RV and it just wasn't a good enough deal.
Let us know what you end up getting. A DS might be able to negotiate a little more. Maybe not...

Cash deal vs finance deal makes a difference; 30% off and then they jack the interest rate up to compensate vs cash deal at a true 30% off. We also found that some dealers "custom" order changes in interior colors and hold a larger margin on these changes. The sales game is just that a GAME. Good luck

Same here-- sent out the spec sheet with what I wanted and the "specials" we wanted to a few dealers. Got a quote of 30% off.... cash deal, no trade in. Made the deal and ordered the coach. About 10 weeks later we had it. I was able to sell our then current coach via Craigslist on the first day I posted it which really surprised me.

Amount of discount is also dependent on the model of coach. Lower on the low end of the Newmar range and higher on the high end units. Not always the case but true most of the time. As others have suggested send an order sheet (downloadable at Newmar dealer resources and support | Newmar) with your options and let the dealers you select give you prices. This works if you are ordering a build to order coach but should also help you with something on a dealer lot.
