Cabinet strut screws

I am looking for the cabinet strut arm screws that holds the cabinet open. I have tried Lowe’s HD Ace etc. and no one has anything close to the ones in the pictures.

I sent Newmar parts an email. Hope to hear from them Monday.

Pan head , combo drive ( Phillips/Robertson) self taping , wood /sheet metal screw. 11/2"

Outside of the RV assembly line I don't think you'll find them, that's about the only place they're used. .
Why do you need the exact item?

If you're ok with using a flathead screw vs the original pan head, you should be able to find some wood screws with unthreaded shanks at any hardware store. Otherwise any screw with threads all the way up will also suffice and shouldn't cause damage to the struts. I did that with some of mine with no ill effects.

Go to Menards or Lowe’s. The section where they have the Kreg jigs will have a selection of screws to match.

See if this will work for you. If not, search their site for other possibilities.

Thanks for the suggestions and links. The cabinet door came off and in turn snapped the screws right where the struts attach the to the cabinet frame. That particular screw will not damage the strut or unset the screw by grabbing the thread each time you open or close the door which was suggested by a friend who is a cabinet maker when he looked at it.

I agree on the Kreg screws. They come flat-head or button-head. You probably want the button-head in this case. The only reason not to get button-head is if the head diameter won't fit in the existing hole. I'm on-the-road right now and can't compare the head diameters. But I'm sure Kreg has a website that gives their various screw specs.

They also come in steel or SS. I always go with SS on boats and RV's.

If you have a Rockler Woodworking store near you they usually carry a very good selection of Kreg fasteners and tools and jigs. Or you can order from Rockler online.

The Kreg heads will be R2 (Robertson #2 square). Just about all the interior screws on Newmars (and most RV's) are now Robertson Square-Drive, so you need an assortment of Robertson Square-Drive bits and drivers anyway. they come in #1, #2, and #3. Most of the interior screws in Newmars are R2.

I was in the Parts Department at Newmar earlier today and they have 1-1/4" screws in stock that I was told are the proper ones for the vertical cabinet door strut. They were priced at $27 (and change) per 100, but were available individually out of the bin. If my math is correct, I'd guess that means $0.27 each.

Sorry that I didn't get a part number, but they were the only screws available in the bins. We'll be in Nappanee for at least another day, so if you need someone to run interference, PM me.

interesting

Hi TJ,
First off sorry to hear about the issues with your MADP. I hope it gets resolved in short order.
Second, I did find the same screws at Rockler (thanks to the forum members) and I have one near where I live so I am headed over there this afternoon and they have them in stock.
Thirdly, Fredi Jimenez in Parts said they only sell fasteners in units of a 1000 and that is not feasible. Interesting you were able to find them in smaller units.

Interesting! There certainly was no where near 1K of screws in the bin I saw...more like 50-75 at most. Glad you found them locally.

I'm sure our coach will get fixed; it's just a matter of how long it will take. Fortunately, our schedule is pretty loose for the next two weeks and we go into the Service Center tomorrow morning at "O-Dark-Early."

I'll through this out there .

I'm sure if you look through your coach you'll find a lot of places where this particular screw is used ; where it's properties are not required . Installer has a limited selection in his pouch , probably only 3 or 4 kinds and uses them for everything .
Can you pull the few that you need from a hidden locations , replacing them with a readily available type and get your repair finished.

BTW: I have 12 , 1 3/4" similar to your picture, but bright, screws from removing the valances and a selection of other lengths from the TV swaps , that I could send you .
