Cable box required?

I'm always reading the RV park reviews and I keep hearing about how campgrounds require a cable box to get reception nowadays but most don't bother as you have to hook them up behind your TV? Have RV manufacturers caught onto this and supply a hook-up somewhere at the front of the TV?

You will find a cable hook up in the electrical bay of coach with possibly a telephone jack also.
Will feed from their to each TV location.
This info may help also.

I'd say they don't. We don't stay many places with cable but many still supply just basic cable and do not require a box. We stayed one place where you hooked up as normal but were supplied with a special remote that worked with a cable box that was stored at the park office but specific to you site. Worked fine.

First. RV parks do not require you get a cable box. Their Cable providers do this Some history
In the early days if you had cable you either got only a few channels or you had to have a cable box. the reason for this is the old TV tuners could not be tuned to the fequencies used by cable.

Then TV makers started making digital controlled (Push button) tuners and now you could "Scan" and program your TV for either cable or OTA

Many homeowners would thus put in splitters and such and run their cable to multiple rooms without paying multiple fees.

So.. The cable copanies are going to encryption so you MUST rent a box for each TV.

Opinion of this witheld.

No, So far RV makers are not making it easy to splice one in however there is an easy way on SOME RV's and another way on others

First the hard way.. This requires all TV's operate on the same station

Run coax in via any handy opening (more on this in a bit) to the cable box, then back out to the CABLE IN port on the rv

Handy opening.. Check the area near the water pump, often there is a hole in the floor you can snake a Coax through.

Option 2: IF yoru RV a "Box of Many Buttons" (Matrix Switch) like mine does you can splice the cable box in in front of the VCR/DVR device

Then select CABLE for the VCR/DVR and VCR/DVR for the TV's

Again.. One channel throught the house.

It's not the RV manufacturers that is the problem, it is the park. Many many resorts and better parks do not require a separate boxs for each TV in the entire park. These parks use a, for loss of a better term, converter at the head end that supplies digital and analog signal for use by the TV tuner.
Plug the cable into coach "cable" c me rin and scan for for channels.

While I have heard of some parks on some of the various forums and RV review sites that you require you to rent/put a deposit on a box, I have yet to stay at one. Seems like it would be a real pain.
