The electric canopy over the cabin door is not working. Dometic is no help on the phone. The large canopy works fine. Does anyone know if the door canopy has a separate control box and fuse? My MH is a 2006 MADP 4304. I am not getting any power at the switch. Like Lug-Nut, I try to fix things before I waste a lot of time and diesel running to a dealer.

Jerry,
Not sure this is the situation you are experiencing but ours sometimes hangs up when fully extended and will not retract. It seems like there is no power to the switch but the arms have locked and won't come back in. The solution to this is to reach up and pull the center of the arms in a little (they will flex back out but it loosens the arms) then use the retract.

Jerry, I'm assuming your door awning is an "Oasis" and wondered if the pdf manual with the wiring diagram would help you.
If you already have this in hand, I apologize....I did notice a wiring diagram in the manual.

Not sure where your control boxes are located as we have dissimiliar coaches and I have all Girard product on my coach.

I believe the control boxes for our Girard awnings are located on the frame about midship in the basement. I think most awning control boxes are usually found within the basement. Oasis controller I believe have an internal fuse in each box, at least my last coach did. It required opening the box to replace.

Lug Nut, you are right. There is a fuse in the controller that is accessible by opening the controller cover. In my DSDP, the controller is located in the first basement storage section next to the entry door.

I had a constant problem with my Oasis on my last coach. The main awning would pop a fuse anytime you didn't release the button quick enough. Not recommended, but I solved it by uping the fuse amp size. Never had another issue with it.

My awnings are Dometic AE automatic, WeatherPro. My dealer suggested connecting the awning to the power supply for the the large awning to determine if the controller is bad. If it works, then the controller is bad. If not, it is most likely a bad motor in the awning. I guess this is the trade off for more automatic features...more things can fail. By the time I get my Essex, I should almost be qualified as a RV technician. I learned more than I wanted to with my Fleetwood. I am getting a little more education with my Newmar. Can't imagine what kind of education my Prevost friends are getting. When you guys have debugged your Essex's, I may want to buy yours.

Jerry, with what I've been through with regard to my Spartan issues alone, I feel like an employee!
