Since the Wrangler is flat towed it is practically nil, only the weight of attachment/hitch to the Wrangler. So....the CS is more than capable of towing the 2 or 4 door versions.

If the toad is over 4,000 lbs, the difference between actual weight and the 5,000 lb. hitch rating is subtracted from the carrying capacity. This information is available on any of the towing websites.

When in doubt get your vehicle weighed with your toad attached.

FYI...... My 2017 JKU Sahara, hard top, weighs 4507 lbs... this measurement right off the CAT scale.

Naturally I had my front axle and rear axle of the coach weighed fully loaded. I did this for air pressure set up.

I am WAY below my max carrying capacity on my coach. Just an FYI I have the 24K chassi, F53 6 speed tarns. No problem towing.

Hello Vettenuts,

You are misunderstanding what you are reading and confusing GVWR with GCWR. Doe you carry your toad or tow it?

Take Pameridan04ís advice for verification.

Ford rates the GCWR for the frame at 30k (on a 26k F53 chassis). As Vettenuts said if you have more tow vehicle weight than the difference (30-26=4k) then you have to have less weight on the chassis to be in compliance with the GCWR.

So if you have a 26K chassis rated for 30K GCWR and want to tow a 5K toad you need to have the coach come in under 25K. So that means taking 1K out of your CCC as Vettenuts was explaining.

If the weight difference between the 2dr and 4dr is 200 lbs, get the model you want. If you want to cutdown the weight a little, tow the unlimited with 1/2 tank of gas. That just got rid of 70 lbs. if 130 pounds is going to make that big of a difference, then you probably need to stick with the 2dr. We are right at the limit of the hitch with our Grand Cherokee. I had a 2015 Cherokee that ended up being a lemon. The towing guide put the Grand Cherokeeís weight at 4,800 lbs.Trith be told, itís closer to 5,100. So I never have a full tank when towing. The one Wrangler I rode in a couple years ago, liked to rattle so of my fillimgs out. My back would never be able to withstand the harsh ride as my daily driver.

Randescape,

Thank you for the clarification and I completely agree with you and what you stated. Since my post referenced the GVWR, I assumed that was what Vettenuts was talking about when subtracting off the 4K

Vettenuts,

Sorry I misunderstood you

I've been flat towing my 2014 4dr JKUR for 40,000 miles behind a 2015 Bounder and the CS 3953, using Ready Brute Elite. Just stopped in to the factory while in KS and the tech checked it over, lubed it and changed the bolts... Good as new!

a bit off subject but when you got your Ready Brute checked did they charge you? I want to stop by the Kansas factory this summer. I have identical miles on mine it has served us well.

I did call ahead of time and stopped by in the morning. They were very accommodating and did it while I waited, took about an hour. The shop isn't much to look at and the tech was the owners father-in-law who took the time to tell me the product history and about a new version they developed. A good experience for sure.
