Last week at Myrtle I had the awning out during a very light rain and noticed the fabric had trapped a lot of water and retracting it. A couple of days later I had it out again and noticed the fabric was torn on the outside edge at the rear corner.
I found the website and contacted a dealer in my area listed as a warranty provider, after contacting the dealer they no longer handle Carefree. I found another dealer several hundred miles away and this dealer advised that carefree does not warranty any of their products and that the coach manufacturer should handle it.
Not wanting to do business with anyone like the above listed dealers, I entered a request for customer service on Carefree's website and now over a week later, no reply!
First, I don't know whether the awning tear is warranty or not but regardless I would like it fixed.
I've certainly lost the warm and fuzzy feeling about my Mirage automatic awnings.
Anyone have experience with the company?
Thanks,
JVR

It's been a few years now but I had lost an awning and replaced it with their motorized set up. It simply would not go in and out at anywhere near an appropriate speed. My dealer had no idea about "anything" so I called them direct and drove over to their plant the next day, about 20+ miles away. There were more than 20 people from the top down surrounding my coach. Several engineers discussed what the problem was. Many of the executives cruised the coach and asked questions about my options(curiosity questions) and spread compliments freely till no more could be said. lol They called the staff of their close by installer( a couple of blocks away) and brought them over to perform the engineers wishes. I was given a tour of the plant and shown what was in store in the near future. I've never had such service in my life. If they had a red carpet it would have been spread in front of my every step, I'm sure. lol

Anyway, it was great compared to what we see normally in this business.

We had a problem on our Carefree main awning on a 2007 Essex. The dealer could not fix right away, and the turn around time would be two weeks he said the old parts would have to be sent back to Carefree before they would warranty the parts. I also think the Mirage has a lifetime warranty. I called Carefree and did not get a return call for 2 weeks. I told the Lady when she called back we have owned a total of 5 Coach's and will never have a Carefree awning from here out. They are the worst in customer care and service, Girard is the absolute best you can deal with. It's no wonder Girard's are on all high line Coach's these days. Ours was repaired at the Newmar Factory. Good luck.
