I have found some in stock stair nose at Lowes or Homey. If you choose that route, sand the back of the stairnose. They spray a finish on the whole piece and adhesive will marginally hold it. No finish and it is rock solid.

Carpet or Hardwood?

That makes sense on a flush slide. Just elevate slightly with plywood and then the nose sits flush.
Btw checked HD and no go on stair nose. I might check Lowes tonight seems like they had a wider selection.
Thanks,

Made a little progress this afternoon. About 1/2 the main floor glued down and the other 1/2 dry fitted in place.

Took some extra time to fit the back side to the screws and angle around the engine cover. Flooring lays nice and flat now.

Here is what I looking at on the trim around the engine cover. The cover is about 1" thick and needs to slide forward. So the custom trim will cover the entire cover with small over hang to cover the flooring on the side.

I have a few extras planned for this area which should dress it up nicely and give it a custom touch!

looks good. Make sure that you have a good egress when the techs need to access the engine. It may take 2 individuals to handle the access with the added weight- and to not mess up the wood.

For assorted reasons I am a fan of either hardwood or tile (any form) of flooring, Nice MOP-ABLE floors. where you can clean them very clean very easily.

(The primary reason happens to be a Sister.. She had a few allergies, (Doc said it would take less time to list what she is NOT allergic to) including dust that there is no practical way to get out of carpeting, Thus my Mother's house had only throw rugs, no carpets,, Tile or vinyl flooring, As a child of my mother... Well, that's what I grew up on so that's what I like.

Oh, on the list of things my little sister is allergic to.... The doctor's office.

Thought I might post an update of the progress this week. Been a little slow going as I just work a few hours after work each night.
Here is the trim roughed out.
2 corner pieces for edging the slide and the step below the slide. Both will match up to flooring height so it will just be a rounded corner. It just barely shows with the bed in place so nothing fancy required.

Decided to get fancy on my miters. These allowed me to pre-assemble the trim for the cover.

And removed the sharp corner.

A coat of stain applied.

And a test fit with the field mocked up a little.

Transition between fixed shelf and cover

With a side piece mocked up.

A sample logo that may dress up an area.

Finish was a close match

And tonight I put the bed back in temporarily as we have guest tomorrow and may have some tours.
Now I see why there may have been so many holes from removing the bed frame. I think they removed the bed each time the access cover was taken off. I will remedy this by replacing the gawdy cloth side pieces with some thinner more modern trim.
Thanks for the tip concerning egress of the cover Ernie.

Nice piece of work Steve if Newmar is watching they may call you for some of your quality work.

Terry have you tried some of the coverings on the rollers to see if they hold up after some use, looks like it could be doable if material doesn't crumble from weight.

Thanks guys.
Terry I need to look at my rollers again but they seemed like a softer plastic already. They are in good shape now but as others indicated I may pick up dirt and lint which will then mar the floor. Just need to clean then move the slides.

yeah the video was more for the still type we see alot

sounds nuts but if you can install a paint bush pushed up on the roller to stop dirt and such from sticking that would work

i am not sure where you rollers are or how much room you have

Made some progress tonight on the flooring.
Got the nose trim installed around the cover.

Went ahead and carved a logo in even though it will rarely be seen.

A couple more pictures of the slide mechanics. This is the sprocket that drives the slide in and out. Also there are 2 additional rollers that the slide rides on next to the outer wall.

Finished out the step under the slide. Corner trim installed with the final pieces of flooring added.

Added the nosing and separator trim from the cover.

And the transition between the step and the raised area around the cover.

Hopefully I will wrap this project up this week.
