I have a 2005 KSDP 3908. I don't have a CB and wanted to hook one up. The Owners manual says that the coach has a CB antenna. Does anyone know where the cable would be located and is the antenna one of the two short antennas located on each side of the roof in front ? Only experience I have had with CB radios was in big trucks which were always attached to the mirrors and were 3 to 4 ft long. Can anyone educate me ?
thanks george

Georgeblack:
I had a 2006 DSDP and there was a bundle of wire/cables stuck up under the dashboard on the driver's side that had the cb connectors. It was wrapped together and covered by a baggie. On my roof was a shorty wire mast antenna with a spring mount.
Hope this helps.

Yes I did find the black and red power wires where you said but did not
see the coax cable to connect to the antenna. I am the 2nd owner and
am not sure what the previous guy did. I should probably call Newmar they are usually very good with support. thanks

George
I never did find the supposedly Pre Wired for CB hook up on my KS.
I installed a Fyrestyk No Ground Plane antennae on the drvers side A post and am using a full size Cobra radio with pretty good results.

My CB coax cable was under the dash, all the way to the left upper corner.
Look for a coax like cable.

My install is similar to Latitudes. I used the same mount but instead of the no ground plane antenna I use a Wilson silver load. There is a steel hoop welded to the frame in this area and you can ground the mount to it on the inside behind the A-pillar trim. The Wilson is adjustable and achieving the correct SWR was no problem. Also used the good coax cable, I removed the factory coax and antenna as they are a joke. Be careful using the factory supplied power cable, I experienced feedback when plugged into shore power or running the generator ( a whine in the speaker). I ran my own power and ground with a filter to alleviate the problem.
I guess I'm a little different than others since I'm an ex-trucker. I run a large CB radio with things like talk-back, echo, roger beep, external speaker and a noise canceling RK-56 mike, Galaxy 959 peaked and tuned the right way.

Hi George,
I have also installed a Firestik no ground plane antenna kit. Go to CB Antenna - 3' Firestick No Ground Plane Needed - iRV2.com RV Photo Gallery to see the antenna position. Go to CATALOG Main Page (Frame Setup) to see the Firestik web site. Currently I have a 3' antenna installed. I had a 4' antenna installed, but the New York State Thruway wiped it out.

Hi Peter,
My 3' Firestik no ground plane antenna, wire, mount and spring with my All-In One CB will receive and transmit any where from 1 to 4 miles. I verify this when traveling. There are exits where businesses advertise their products on channel 19. They state the exit number. I know how far I am from them when I pass a mile marker sign. I act like I'm interested in their products and they will converse with me. The above mentioned distances vary according to terrain. I have talked as much as 10 miles from and the exit these businesses are located at. On average the 1 to 4 miles are good numbers.

I get that distance with my Midland CB hooked up to the factory antenna that came with my coach. I have talked to truckers on a freeway that is about 4 miles from my house, so I know this to be true. In actuality, with the hash and mash on channel 19 on most major roads, you will be lucky to send and receive a mile with any set-up however.

Hi Dave,
The distances (including 10 miles) mentioned in my post are all on channel 19. This includes some of the most congested CB areas (ex., Memphis, Tennessee). In rural areas (ex. are Montana, the Dakota's, Wyoming) my transmission distance is much much farther. Usually it is to the horizon. I did not include the rural examples in my earlier post as rural Interstate travel may not be where most of us spend our time.
