I would like to install a ceiling fan in the bedroom of my coach. My coach only has a small window and we would like to use the fan just to move air in the bedroom... We already have 2 Fantantic Fans but 1 is in the bathroom and the other is in the kitchen area......
Anyone do this? Any Ideas? Any Hints? Anything I should be awear of?
Thanks Lee

I would thin that omce you built a support above the ceiling, it would be easy. A ceiling "hugger" is probably the answer, and someone who is familiar with electric.

Newmar ceiling fans were installed within a ceiling
indentation. They won't install with bedroom slides for liability reasons. Now that ceilings
are taller than older coaches, fans make more sense.
My 2000 DSDP fan regularly sheds fan blades due to
the cheap pot metal blade arms(while driving, not when the fan is spinning). I bought better
ones, but the spacing isn't quite right to change
all blade arms. Make sure you use a good quality fan.
Ceiling fans are AC, so when boondocking, the
inverter or generator would have to be on.

Why not just get a small squirrel cage type blower fan and aim it at the ceiling for circulation...Sam's sells them for about 55 bux

I found a 32 inch with 6 blades at Home Depot that I am going to try and install. Looks like I can install right in the center and my electrical panel is about 5 feet away for a 120 power source..

You can run the wire across the same panel you put in your fan to power supply, tuff job to run front to back in Newmar ceiling never did get a wire in that direction.

Most use the A/C ducts for front to rear.

I wouldn't, would collect dirt and dust in vent and put leaks in your AC ducting for cooling and heat from heat pump.
Heavy 110 wire could also tear foam duct.

Well......you do need to seal the ducts to prevent leaks.
However, it's done all the time.

Yes you would have to seal holes in duct but how would you fix a tear in a foam duct.
Anyone can do as they like just not on my coach.

My satellite installer used a fiberglass fish tape, had no problems.
In some cases, it's the only way to get from front to back.

I kinda looked at it last night and when beams am I going to run into to? I am thinking about going to the Rear TV and pick up power there... Or should I go to the back and go into my Panel?
I think I felt a Beam or something when I reached up through the speaker hole in the ceiling. I am now wondering what kind of anchors to use also...
Thanks for the help Lee

We have a factory installed one and have never had a problem. There is a ~1 ft square indentation ~ 6 inch deep that the fan hub is installed in. Do not know how they did it. Try calling Newmar.
