I will be dumping my horrible Sony 32 for a 40" Samsung...it will fit with 1/2" clearance side to side and is only 1.2" thick...I want to mount it in front of the existing wood, just touching it snugly....has anyone replaced that tv and what is involved to attach an appropriate mount...the tv weighs 22 lbs..

Lots of people have. There are some pictures posted over at Newmar-dp-owners : Newmar Diesel Pusher Owners in the photos area.

I did the same in our 2005 EXDP. We installed a 40 Samsung to replace a 32 Sony. My installation was similar to others except I also added a bottom aluminum angle bar that created a bottom edge and pin for the TV to sit on. It carries a bulk of the weight and just seemed to add more safety rather than hanging the 25 pounds of TV from those 4 bolts in the back. I made the bar out of aluminum angle stock with a center portion bent up to fit into the bottom mounting hole in the TV. So the TV pretty much sits on the bar with a pin in the bottom hole. The 4 bolts just reinforce everything and keep it from falling off the bar. I painted the aluminum bar black to match the TV and is not even visible unless you look under the TV. I am not sure how much vertical dimension you have on your rig but my aluminum bar mounted securely along the bottom of the old wooden frame.

Good idea about the mounting bar....I have 26" of vertical and the TV will be about 22" high
