I'm on my way to St. Louis, MO and my chassis AC is blowing warm air. I found a 7.5 amp fuse in the front compartment below the drivers position that says AC comp and it's not blown but that doesn't seem to be large enough to operate the compressor clutch. So with the engine running, I went back and tried to listen for the clutch to operate while the vacuum mode switch on the control panel was switched from off to A/C mode and I couldn't hear anything so I put my hand on the compressor hoping I could feel the clutch engage but no luck.
Can anyone tell me where the fuse is located for the compressor clutch?

Hi RJay,
The clutch not engaging may be caused by the system being low in refrigerant.
Fuses for almost all the automotive appliances are in the most forward left side basement compartment. It is below and forward of the diver. I think this is where you have already checked. In the same compartment, there is a 25 AMP fuse labeled HVAC. The fuse is located on the fuse/relay board above the board where the 7.5 AMP fuse is located. The 25 AMP fuse is on the right end of the board.

Hi Gary,
I check every fuse in that compartment and I don't find a 25 amp fuse labled HVAC. I think my board layout may be different than yours. At the top of the compartment is a green circuit board where the 7.5 amp fuse is located and is labled F1, below that is a black fuse board that uses the smaller blade type fuses. I see a lot of references to the A/C but they are all blank(no fuses). I didn't know that low refrigerant would prevent the compressor clutch from engaging, but I will check that next, Thanks.

Thanks Gary!! I found one of the problems, no refrigerant. I added about 35 oz. of refrigerant to get it into the normal range and it started to blow cold air. Obviously there is a leak somewhere and the refrigerant that I added has a dye so hopfully I'll be able to find the leak. I'm going to check the pressure tomorrow before I leave to get an idea of how much has leaked overnight. Thanks again Gary!!

If the ac doesn't blow cold air check refrigerant level. There is a pressure sensor that will not the compressor run if pressure is low. Because of lack of use seals and o-rings dry out and cause leaks. It is a good idea to run the ac every month to circulate oil to the o-rings and seals. This is good for you cars also.

I agree with you. I bought this motorhome in Buffalo, NY in February when it was 7 deg. F. Drove it down to Louisiana and parked it until I left about 5 days ago for St. Louis, MO. This trip is the first chance I've had to use it and it didn't work until Gary said the compressor wouldn't run if the refrigerant was low. The last leg of my trip was the first time the inside of the coach was cooler than the outside.

RJay... Where would I find the place to add REFRIGERANT ?
Sorry for the dumb question.. I do have my manuals so I will read this eve.. Mine does blow air.. But I wouldn't call it COLD.. No loose or blown fuses..
All input appreciated.
Thanks..

Mine is in the front of the motorhome where the generator is located(pull out the drawer). You add the refrigerant on the low pressure side of the system. You can identify the low pressure port by its BLUE cap, just unscrew the cap and attach the refrigerant tube. I went to Walmart and bought the bottle with the removable gauge so now I'll be able to check my system if it needs servicing.
