Chassis Battery

Have a 2013 Newmar 3610 F-53 Chassis. Does some know if the chassis battery is charged when connected 120V AC power?

One way to know for sure is attach a multi meter to your chassis battery's and if your showing 13.4 to 13.8 voltage, your battery's are being charged.

Maybe, maybe not. To tell, plugged in to shore power you will see about 1 volt increase vs. not on shore power.

Even if someone gives you the definitive answer for your RV, it would be a good idea to test it yourself with a multimeter. You could also answer if the house batteries are charged on engine alternator and chassis battery on generator. Doing these kinds of tests can help down the road so you can check if something has changed or malfunctioning.

Welcome to the forum and irv2.
You will find your answer in this link and my signature below.
The Bird System controls all your battery charging if plugged in or driving down the road.

Hi JoeMota,
Welcome to iRV2 and the Newmar Owners Forum. The short answer is yes. As 007 posted, Newmar's have for years ben built with the BIRD system. Thanks for posting in the Newmar Owners Forum. Be carefule about posts from those who do not own a Newmar coach. They may not know how Newmar builds a coach.

The BIRD system ensures chassis and coach batteries are charged when connected to shore power, driving down the road or the generator is running.

I would agree that sometimes it's best to have someone that owns like equipment give their feedback of a certain problem. I know I would love to see responses to any of my specific problem's by someone who owns like equipment from the same manufacturer. However, in this post, 12VDC is 12VDC and 12VDC dosen't know the difference between manufacturers.

Hi rskrbina,
Please note my post emphasized the BIRD system, not the 12 VDC system. In this thread, posts # 2, 3, and 4 could send the OP down a road that might lead to the wrong conclusion. If one owns a Newmar coach, first one needs to understand the BIRD system. This will allow the owner to determine if further DIY diognostics is needed or to hire a professional to make the diagnosis.

I emphasize a basic, layman's understanding of the variety of systems on their Newmar coach. This provides an owner the confidence to determine if there may be a problem and if DIY or professional help is the next step.

As a courtesy, I do not post in other brand forums. The reason is that I do not know how their brand of coach was built, what systems and features are installed or any of the nuances each coach manufacturer has and owners need to learn.

I also encourage members to post their problems and questions in the owners forum for their brand of coach. If this does not exist, they would need to post in the general information forums.
