Hi countrypair,
The chassis batteries are charged when on shore power. Installed in your coach there is a B.I.R.D. (by directional isolator relay). When on shore power, the coach batteries first, then the chassis batteries are charged. It will keep both sets of batteries fully charged. The solar panel, on the roof, is a maintenance panel. It should keep the chassis batteries at the level they were at when you turned off the engine. It will not improve the state of charge.
