Cheap remake of dishwasher area

Took our dishwasher out a while ago because we used it once since new and would rather have the storage space. Checking around, prices for custom made matching doors are rather high to say the least. We used the area with no mods for our last trip, but it looked pretty crude. I ended up boxing in the sides and rear with cabinet grade plywood, installing a shelf, and adding a lower flap on a piano hinge to cover the pots and pans slot below the shelf and create a lip for the top shelf. Since I was using poplar instead of maple, I had to play around with the stain color. Think I got it pretty close. I still have to finish the interior. Best thing is, if I want to reinstall the dishwasher, there will be no visible signs that this was ever done.

Looks good, that's a perfect match on the color. It looks like it came that way, which is what you want.

If you ever have a project like that again, you can sometimes just call Newmar and have them build you a custom door in your color. I had Monaco build me a custom bedroom cabinet door, 5 years after the coach was built. It's pricey, but usually cheaper than a carpenter doing it.

Yeah, I heard of a place near the factory also, Focal wood products, that could do the job. I just got sick of looking at the black hole and wanted to fill the space till I could get up there for a permanent solution.

I sent our dishwasher to the dumpster but (in our 2005) it had 2 wood panels on the front. I saved the panels, installed kitchen SS pot/pan sliding shelves, and installed the old panels on the front of shelving. Didn't add inside walls because plumbing/electrical/hydrohot radiator was behind and to the right of the dishwasher. We really prefer the pots/pans storage !!
