Check Tag Axle

After travelling 5 ft or so, a " Check Tag Axle" came up on the LBCU. I promptly stepped outside that the Tag was indeed still there, lol. Took the coach out for a short spin in the hope tgat the problem would resolve itself. It appears that at towards the end of a braking cycle (red light intersection, stop etc.) air is released and the msg pops-up. Togleing the LBCU joystick gets rid of the msg until I brake once more. Any thoughts? Is this safe to drive with? Should a make a bee-line to the nearest Freightliner service facility?

Glad to have you here in the forum with us.

I don't believe in ignoring any warning light. I'd get it checked.

Happy Trails!!!

I had this happen when the Tag Dump switch was accidentally set to disable. Moving it back to Auto solved the problem.

Sounds like a possible switch/wiring issue. The air you hear releasing is normal and does so to allow the tag to steer. If you park the unit and put it in reverse you won't hear it, put it in drive and you'll hear it. The switches just send signals to the lightbar, not disable the steerable function. Having said all this, it's best you get it looked at. I'm betting it is an easy fix...

Mine was intermittent and then came on steady. In my case, Newmar had run the wiring harness in such a way that strain was being placed on the tag axle sensor creating a false reading. A simple adjustment to the harness routing by the dealer corrected the problem.

Weird. Did you see this for yourself or did they just tell you? There are 2 switches, one is normally open and the other is normally closed. Not sure how it could send a false reading
