Question Check valve malfunction?

I am assuming that what is happening is a result of a bad check valve. With the fresh water hose disconnected, if I turn on the pump, water comes out of the hose. When I have the water hooked to a fresh water source, everything is ok.

Is the check valve broke? Can it be fixed? Replaced? Is it part of the pump or separate?

If you take the screen washer out of hose connect fitting you will see a small center tip.
Use a pencil with eraser and push in and out a few times you may clean out some particles that are caught in seal so water wouldn't squirt out like it is.

OldHiker,
Our Essex does that from time to time but only when the water fill selector is turned to City Water. Try turning the selector to Auto Tank Fill and see if it still happens. It stops the problem on ours.

007,
The Essex has a pre-mounted hose on a hose reel and the water feeds in through the 3 way fill selector. You can't get to the check valve like you mention...or at least mine is not like that.

Have the same problem on our 2011 King Aire. It appears there is a check valve at the end of the city water hose (behind the hose reel). Still under warranty so taking it to the dealer next week along with a few other issues.

Is the valve the grey plastic piece attached to the hose reel or is it the part that is attached to the inlet of the whole house filter?

On mine I suspect it is the coming out of the hose reel. It's a guess but it's the only one that jumped out at me. Maybe it could be either one.????

On my Essex it is the gray part before the whole house filter.I had to replace it because of same problem.

Yes I think it is the grey piece that connects to the hose reel or in the hose that that goes to the filter. It is not in the hose that is in the hose reel. If memory serves it is spring loaded so it might be stuck.

Removed it and inspected. When I removed the rubber disk that does the sealing, discovered it was broken thru. Ordered a new valve from Newmar for about $13 plus shipping.
