I just had my first oil change/lube. The mechanic noted how terribly DRY most of the fittings were, including the U Joints. He was very impressed with the number of zerks, etc, but puzzled as to why a chassis would not be adequately lubed at the factory....FYI

I guess the dealers are expecting the chassis to be ready to go on arrival from Spartan and Spartan is expecting the dealer to finish what SHOULD have been done at Spartan

Larry, make sure you have the Allison transmission filter changed at approximately 5000 miles.

This is a good point for all thats out there. I just had to replace a bunch of power steering and related suspension parts on my Isuzu box truck. I had been using a mobile oil change service for 7 years for my trucks and he missed 2 zerks all that time.New mechanic said its very common in the industry.

Dependent upon SN it is not required to change at 5000 miles anymore. Newer units have a new high capacity filter that eliminates the 5000 mile change requirement.
