Checklists

Anyone here have checklists for setting up/tearing down/hooking up/towing/etc. that they'd care to share?

I'm thinking I'd like to have a binder with laminated checklists for the various tasks involved with RVing. Use a dry erase marker to check off as I do stuff, minimize the potential for my CRS Syndrome to rear its ugly head.

Ha, file is in the moderator's que to be approved.

I recommend using a pre-trip checklist and update it with lessons learned.

We use two of them. The first is a basic one making use of the one built into the Freightliner instrument panel. We have edited it a bit by adding/dropping items. Examples: close vent covers, lower antennas, lock fridge doors.
The second one we created and maintain on an app we installed on our iPhone, iPad, and laptop called Wunderlist. Examples might be: pack medications, pack adult beverages, load fresh water, pack portable charger, etc. The app is available for download via App Store. We use it for many other uses too. Be careful though - in the wrong hands it becomes a great honey do list tool. [emoji41]

Been RV'ing since 1957 so everything is ingrained by now with modifications over the years for the various rigs owned.

checklist

I use an app for android called RVChecklist. Easy to use and modify to fit your needs. Comes with 4 ready to use lists: Departure Checklist, Arrival Checklist,
Camping Prep, and RV Inspections.
It is free and from Adventure Treks.
There may be an Apple version.
I have no affiliation with them.

If you go to the search window above and type in checklists you will find quite a few checklists that people use. Find one that works for you or combine them and make your own. I use checklists all the time.

A while back I saw a photo of a sign by the exit of an RV Park...

If I remember correctly it said:

Checklist:
1) TV Antenna Down?
2) Side Step retracted?
3) Do you have your sewer hose and water hose?
4) Wife Inside?

As a retired pilot, I thought I would use checklists, but I don't.
Most of it is obvious and if you just take your time and break it down into areas it works.
Sometimes I have a count for the task. Hooking up the car is 7 things with the towbar and 5 things inside the car. It's a flow, just like the overhead panel in a 727.
Only thing I've ever forgot was the tv antenna once. That now has a bungee that hangs down on the co-pilot seat.

I have a list similar to nseaver.

It is all in "notes" on my I-phone. The first section of the list is for stuff that can be done the day before departure, like taking off wheel covers, etc.

The second part of the list includes everything else from turning on the TPMS to the final walk around prior to pulling out. I don't actually check anything off, I just pull up the list and check it as we go about breaking camp.

I use an app called 2Do on my iPhone. Have all the checklists and check them off when done. Simple uncheck all to get set for next time. Also ordered in the way I do things.

One for packing, setup, tear down, etc etc.

Works great for us.

Checklists

I also use an app called RV Checklist, but it’s a different product than that used by Webz. It’s in the iPhone App Store, and it’s free.
An excellent app, it includes several preset lists, but it is also remarkably easy to modify to your own needs and tastes.
Like F4Gary, I’ve structured my lists similar to what I was accustomed to in my flying career, which is to say they are check lists, not do lists. The idea is that you’re supposed to be familiar and proficient, so you run through all your flows, then use your check list to check and verify that all is complete. Also, you structure the list such that if you do happen to miss an item sequence it does not cause great disruption. Example: you don’t confirm storage bay doors secure before confirming jack pads, power cord, and water hose stowed. That sort of thing.
I can send my departure list if you’d like.

Ya know, I never thought of apps. LOL I'll have to check out what's out there.

Thanks for sending me your list, Tom! I appreciate it. And thanks everyone for the suggestions.

I built one in the Notes app on my iPhone.
Started with standard things, then added steps as I caught myself forgetting things.
