Clarion antennas

My 2014 DS Clarion Nav quit working so I pulled it just far enough out of the dash to plug in another antenna. That was the problem so I took it to the local Newmar dealer for some service and had them run the new antenna while they had it, well the Nav works now but the Sirius Radio is not, so again I pulled the radio forward enough to see if maybe they inadvertently unplugged the Sirius antenna but no, its plugged in. I would get a Sirius antenna and try it but it looks like an OEM plug and if I have to buy one and if I end up needing to replace the entire Clarion unit for one that really works well, then I am out that cost. Kinda strange that the Sirius antenna quit at the same time dealer installs one next to it?

The Clarion system in my 2016 Canyon Star keeps randomly saying the Sirrius antenna failure then just no signal. At first I thought it was just slow to reacquire the satellite after being stored in the pole barn, but I am not so sure anymore. While driving today it was working fine, I hit a good bump (Indiana roads) and it went to "antenna failure". I switched to FM and it worked fine the rest of the way home. It had showed failure at least twice earlier today. The first time it reacquire signal all by itself. The second time I shut the unit off and then back on to regain the Sirrius signal. I am suspecting / hoping maybe a loose antenna connection.

How did you pull the Clarion unit out far enough to check the antenna connections? I'd rather not take the entire dash panel out to get to it. Also, rather not drive it 2 hours to the dealer.....

by snapping out the trim ring surrounding thee unit you should see 10 very small Philips head screws, remove these then wiggle the unit towards you will you see the back of the unit and all the wires. The gps is on the upper portion to the right and has a blue head, you should have one of these on hand before performing the removal described prior. You can unclip the antenna and clip in the new one just have the head of the antenna exposed to the sky. If all works properly then the process of running the antenna to your roof will be the next step, which is another story.
