Do you think a finer mesh screen over the drain cover would be helpful?

That's what I've been trying to decide. One thing, a finer mesh screen would definitely clog up quicker but it would also be easier to clean it off with a brush than to have to flush out the drain hose after removing the metal strainer.

The drain plate and sump design appear similar (I have a 2016 DS 4018, the diagram is for an Essex) but without any direct connections from the A/C. My drains are located at the 4 corners.

StuartS - it's made up of 3 parts available at any online or brick and mortar hardware store:

1. Garden Hose Connector w/Shut-Off Valve

2. High Pressure Nozzle

3. PVC Tubing

The Hose connector screws on to your hose, the nozzle screws on to the connector, and the tubing slips on the nozzle. It took a little heat to soften the tubing so it would slip on the nozzle.

This is the rear/passenger side roof drain. It, and the other 3 drains, are located on the roof edge where the caps meet the walls.

This is the location

Since we have placed our order for a 2017 DSDP and will be dealing with this in the future, has anybody tried using a screen similar to what is used in a kitchen drain, but inverting it where the cone part is up instead of down? Debris would then have to build to the height of the cone before clogging the system. Just a thought....

Not a bad idea.

You cannot really see it in my photo, but the top of the exterior wall is the high point of the gutter system, providing a couple inches of depth before water overflows.

A properly fabricated screen may do what you suggest.

Here is a question from a Newby. I have a 2012 BayStar but I don't remember seeing any drains on the roof. I also don't remember the dealer pointing them out when we bought the coach used. Are they on most coaches? The picture above looks like they are out when the slides are out, again I don't remember seeing them but I really wasn't looking either.

Thanks.
