Clearance light issues

How do you change the clearance light fixture on the rear of a 2007 Newmar Kountry Star? I have removed the 2 screws but the fixture will not come loose.

It's probably just stuck down with silicone caulk. They usually put silicone around the light to seal it. Use a thin scraper to get between the body and light and pry it loose.

Right on. Also, when you go to install the replacement (I assume you are replacing with a new fixture), you will want to reseal the back with a generous coating of RTV Silicone.

One other tidbit, when you remove the old fixture, before you cut the wires, tie a piece of wire, string or facsimile to the wires so you don't loose them down inside the cavity. I can tell you this will save you a lot of time by not having to fish them out.

Below is a link to another thread on this subject that might help source new lights if required.

Hi logden,
The previous posts are good information for replacing the fixture. However, if you are trying to replace the light, that is another remedy.

Thanks, I got the fixture off. The silicon was sealed around the wires and I had to really pull on the fixture to get it loose from the caulking.
