Clearance Lights

I need to replace three of the red lens clearance lights on the back of our 2004 KSDP; just the lenses. Can't imagine how they have gotten cracked - but they have. I also have to replace two of the amber units on the front. The LEDs are molded into the bases and they have burned out - so I'll just replace the entire units.

What is the right material to bed these things in to get a good watertight seal? The stuff Newmar used is rubber-like but definitely not a silicone product.

Thanks.

Your question rang a memory bell. We used 3M 5200 alot when I was the engineer on a big private yacht, kinda a break from regular merchant marine gig, I could only remember 5200, Googled "5200 sealant" and got back the 3M part. Looks like it only comes in white. About $18 a tube, one part not a two part product. This shouild be perfect for bedding clearance lights to the endcap or roof. Remeber it as being very durable and strong but quick setting. Last alot longer than good silicone. I have some work coming up on my Discovery 38' and I will definitely use this product. Thanks for the memory jog.

I had to replace the clearance lights on my Scotsdale. The rubber backing you are speaking of is just a rubber like materail that you can purchase from whoever you purchase the lights. I purchased mine from the RV dealer but maybe cheaper elsewhere. I did not seat my lights in the silicone but just on the rubber backing. After installing, I then placed silicone caulking around the outside of the lights.
