Have not had a chance to use our new 2012 Baystar much yet but hoping to head south next week -- today when we tried to start it, the battery was dead and we needed to use the Battery Boost to start it. Not sure if it was after that that but while we let it idle for about 20 mins after that we heard a "click" in the engine about every 30 - 45 seconds. We drove it around for awhile and no click while driving but as soon as we let it idle the click was back. Do not think it did that before and just wondering if it was caused by using the battery boost or if that was just conincidental. Actually we were surprised the battery was so low as it has only been in storage for a few weeks -- we did have the chasis battery turned off (we have no engine turn off with this unit) and nothing had been left on. Any ideas as to why the click and if it is something that needs investigation?

Are you sure it is not the A/C compressor turning on and off. Verify that the A/C is not in defrost and not in cool or is totally off.

Hi picaro,
Consider posting the battery drain question in the Newmar Owners Forum. On the iRV2 main page, scroll down about 1/2 way and you'll see the forum. I suggest this since nobody knows your coach like somebody who owns one just like yours. Another BayStar owner may be more likely to see you post in the Newmar Owners Forum.

Our 2007 Workhorse had a ticking sound at idle shortly after we bought it - turned out to be the decel valve - part of the smog equipment. Our local Workhorse service place replaced it under warranty and it's been quiet ever since. I don't know if the Ford motor has the same valve, but it's worth a look, especially since it should be under warranty...

AC compressor would be my first investigative place, then possible smog control device. These would/could be normal sounds that you will have to get used to in a new vehicle.
Doubt the booster to start has anything to do with the sound.
