Installed the CB today. Everything went fine, except I can not get the SWR down. The needle goes into the red on all channel. 1,19 and 40. The Wilson tech support notes say that the antenna may not be grounded or thetips to trouble shhot the problemre is a short in the coax.
Has anyone experienced this problem? The antenna was a factory installed unit. Does anyone know the brand? I bought the Cobra 75 and installed myself.
Any suggestions or tips to troubleshoot and repair problem?
Thanks

Wish I could help , I can not get the swr right on mine either, I even put a tunealbe fire stick antenna and still my cb works about 200 feet. GaryKD on here has had great results with the same set up. Maybe pm him or search for his post about it. Sorry I was no help.

Try removing the threaded antenna adjuster thingy (tech term) altogether from the factory cb ant.
A second option is to glue down a sheet of metal (al is fine) about a foot square or so around the base of the antenna - glue it directly to the roof.
Third, it might be working fine even though the SWRs are not quite right, have you tried a radio check asking for a 10-20? Careful not to use the 13-codes or the 18-codes

I installed the same CB and Firestk II. But, I cut my antenna wire to about 11' and the ground portion of the antenna is grounded in 3 different places. I ran a wire from the antenna mount to the side wall frame in the A pillar, then continued down to a spot in the dash on circuit board and finally to the chassis via spot on the brake pedal mount. My SWR is just a touch over 1:2 on channel 19.

I have complete writeup on my web site in the DIY section.
