Comfortable Speed

I may not be as much of an expert as the rest of you but doing 3 trips from East Coast to Phoenix for winters, I can tell you that I don't feel comfortable above about 66 or 67 mph in daylight and with dry roads. But, that is much dependent on road conditions. Yes, TX may have 80 mph limit but that does not mean you have to do it. I have driven across TX 6 times and done 66-67 each time. The trucks may not love me, but they pass just fine. I have had too many experiences of people pulling out, animals, crazy potholes where there should not be any, wind gusts, and sudden rain squalls to want to do anything above 70 on the downhill. I drive for pleasure. I enjoy the journey. I don't need to "white-knuckle" drive. You all driving at 75 or 80 can wave to me as you go by.

Cruise speed

I drive a National Tradewinds and when on Michelin and Goodyear tires 75-80 was in comfort zone but now on Hancooks my comfort zone has dropped to 65-70 and try to stay near 65.

I use the cruise control set to the speed limit when it's less than 65 or at 65 when the limit is that or higher. This mostly because everybody else on the road is going faster than the limit and, so, I rarely have to change lanes. The 35-foot Winnie I drive can handle the faster speeds, but I find that's more trouble than it's worth. It's not a sports car, and I'm not in a hurry anyway!

I wouldn't feat the Hankooks, they're a better tire than the Goodyear. I ran Hankooks on my Monaco Diplomat. Great handling and riding tire.

Relax

64-66 and plenty of space in front of me to slow down. Why feed your ego and put everyone at risk. Enjoy the journey

No rush, enjoy the journey! 65 is a great speed and keep 2 seconds between you and the vehicle in front of you. I pull a 12,000 lbs 5th wheel with a 6,000 lbs truck and I hold at 60 myself. At 65 mph, 2 seconds distance is about 65 yards - longer than the distance from the mid field stripe and the goal post set 10 yards behind the end zone line on a football field.

What's the hurry??

I agree with paaca. My tires are speed rated for 71..
I assume everyone knows what their tires are rated for.

I keep ours at 60-65, most of the time with the cruise is set at 62. One of my main reasons for this is I blew a right front tire, only had 5000 miles on it, which scared me and my wife half to death. For those of you driving 70-75, I can't imagine how you would ever be able to control a 45,000 lbs coach to a safe stop. I'm retired and just not in that big a hurry to get where I'm going. Safe travels to everyone.

62 mph in our diesel pusher is fast enough for us. It’s safer, better gas mileage. And comfortable especially on our California more crowded & some poorer roads. Frankly too I wouldn’t want to hit anybody even at 62 miles an hour but can you imagine at 75 even if it was 100% their fault? Or a blowout. You’ve got to consider overall conditions But no I would not be comfortable or feel safe driving 75 mph anywhere.

Even though our older Holiday Rambler has a new motor, I try to keep her 65 or a bit under. Its not as much a comfort zone thing as the gas milage. I read many posts on this thread and am surprised at how few mention that. Were all getting pretty crappy milage relatively speaking. Id like to stretch gas dollars as far as possible.

I run 62-63mph, our toad is only rated to tow up to 65mph w/4 down.

Here in California the towing limit is 55 mph so I set the cruise control for about 59-62 when I have the Jeep behind. I am in no hurry and enjoy being as safe as possible.
