@ 007: do you have a ball park figure how much that would cost?

There are no obvious leaks anywhere, and according to the dealer, all old residue will be removed before new sealant will be applied.

I just happen to have their FACTORY SER. CENTER MAINTENANCE sheets in front of me because I have been going through my files for some one else interested in my coach.

This is the prices for the 2009 year last time I was at Newmar, 52 items on two sheets going through the whole coach for every item in coach including chassis plus cleaning of everything in coach appliances etc, etc. Prices range dependent on what package you decide from $1200 to $6800 plus discounts of 20% in different package combinations.
Not cheap but you will have a new coach in some packages when completed.

Just for interest their inspection for roof --$40 , windows, doors $50 after inspection they would than advise as to what needs to be done.
I can advise you now you will need it done on a coach that old as with my 2003 all sealants, in seams will need to be done, windows, doors, windshield rubber mounting gasket and as I gave you in links the roof needs work to be done for roof end cap side seams and top roof seams.

Having it done at factory by the people that built coach you know it will be done right.
Many members tackle the jobs themselves and will save money but it is work, believe me, for them and possibly a helper and more if a person needs to learn how to do a correct job.
We may have dealers that would tackle the job but is time consuming to do.

Once done you going to have a extended stay in your newly sealed coach.
You could E-MAIL or call and get new sheets and also ask pricing of exactly what I have just described about roof, windows all seams in coach and maybe check the slide rubber seals and costs for windshield, slide replacements.

SLIDE SEAL REPLACEMENT some of the items if applied to your coach for FULL INSPECTION

It would not matter what SOB coach of that age, the same would apply.

Hello Honey62,

Decisions, decisions - - - I feel your pain, when buying a big machine you may not know much about and trying to do it from "The Continent" to boot.

Here are some random thoughts that come to mind after reading this thread.

First off, you found a coach you like! Half the battle done right there.

Second, you had it inspected, good for you - you now know what the problems are.

Third, seems the dealer is willing to pay for some of the repairs.

Forth, you never mentioned if the coach has its previous maintenance records.

I think you have done things perfectly - better than me as I bought a used coach, that looks good with little or no inspections.

I think you should seriously consider buying the coach. You have a lot of time, effort, and money invested in it.

Let the dealer do the work, unless you can get a substantial reduction to cover the costs for repairs.

Insurance - I bought an extended service plan from Good Sam's Club. Only took it for one year and a Good Sam will only cover coaches under 18 years old. Mine is 13 years as of this date. I would shop for other companies different from what you were quoted.

Call Newmar Customer Service and ask for the Maintenance Packages price sheets. As 007 said, there are many items inspected and completed by the Newmar team.

In my case, after I bought the coach, I took it to a local Freightliner Dealer to have my Freightliner chassis inspected and serviced. It did not go well and I finally "recused" my coach from them after a week and a half.

Then I found out what services Newmar offered and my coach was taken to them. It is at Newmar as I write and pick it up tomorrow!

Now in your case, if you are not near the Nappanee, Indiana factory, I would follow 007s advice, ask Newmar for an authorized dealer in your area and show them the Newmar checklists and go from there.

This way, you get the coach you want, dealer fixed repairs, an inspection and service (oil change(s), filter changes, water system inspection/sanitized, house inspection, etc.), and in the long run, peace of mind.

These are just my thoughts. You have enough on your plate with an international move on your "To Do List".

BTW - I am lucky - I live close to the factory, so a trip to them is not a cross-country excursion. I am also close to a highly-recommended dealer, Mt. Comfort RV, Greenfield, IN, who I will be taking my coach to for a Blue-Ox True Center installation (Only because the factory would not do it). And I was not as smart as you to get a pre-purchase inspection - I am happy to report no major problems were found at the factory.................

Good luck to you...............I believe I have copy of the latest Newmar Maintemance Service sheets if you want to PM me, I'll email them to you.

No Honey, sounds like I am talking to my wife , if I did have them they would from an old guy with old figures, like I said either E-Mail or call to Newmar and they can give you that information they will gladly do that for you.
As Indy's excellent post explains you will not regret the effort of dealing with the company that built your coach.
I have looked through the COM_NET Network and I have not been able to find the work sheets I have.
