Stan, I never use my cooktop or microwave on batteries (inverter). Just a personal preference of mine. If you do the same, no need for extra batteries.

"Reservation cooking" Make reservations at a nice restaurant dear.
Since I posted the above my DW has died, so I did do the conversion. Haven't been able to remove the propane tank as it is above the fuel tank and the access door isn't big enough. I did burn off what was in the tank though.

Don are you happy with the True Induction cooktop now that you've had time to use it. Thinking about replacing my smooth top electric range. It takes forever to boil water on it.

I'll be honest, we don't do a lot of stove top cooking. Neither of us is much of a cook and most meals get prepared in the microwave. Actually, I've gotten very good at cooking chicken, pork chops and rib eyes in the convection oven.

With that said, when we do use it, we've been very happy with performance. We boondock at Yosemite once a year during Thanksgiving. Rather than fire up the generator for things like hot chocolate or soup, we bought a single burner propane cooktop. It comes in a nice case and uses a small fuel canister. During the hours we don't want to run the genny, we use that for soup and drinks. It's lef out on the counter during the trip.

In the three years I've had mine, I've been happy and have never read any posts here where someone had a major issue with the True Induction unit.
