Angry Courtesy Lights

I have a 2004 Dutch Star DP on a Spartan Chassis. We do lots of dry camping. When we go to bed at night we put on the courtesy lights in case one of us has to go to the bathroom during the night. There is a switch on the dash and one in the bedroom. The courtesy lights stopped working. I have checked the bulbs and the fuse in the power cord compartment, they are good. If I press the battery boost switch on the dash, the courtesy lights go on. I have spoken to Newmar, they were not much help. Spartan sent me wiring diagrams but I don't see any wiring for the courtesy lights. I looked at the back of the battery boost switch and there are only two wires on it, besides the switch light wires. Could there be a relay somewhere in the courtesy light circuit?

Welcome liftrod to the forum & irv2.
Have never seen a relay for lights just has a fuse that I'm aware of.
The battery boost is for starting your coach if chassis batteries are to low to start coach.
There should be a C light switch on your dash also.
With a meter check and see if you have a good ground feeding your C lights and you may have to pull each light and check the looped wiring between them.
The bedroom switch may have a open spaded clip off switch that has fallen into wall you may want to check first, most other wires are supported in a wire harness.
Let us know how you make out, enjoy the forums.

Do any of your 12 volt lights/systems work? Sounds like you lost 12 volt side of your house. batteries dead or disconnected and converter dead.

Hi liftrod,
Welcome to iRV2 and the Newmar Owners Forum. Your coach may have two 12 VDC fuse panels. The second panel may be in the shore power electrical bay behind a black panel that must be pulled to remove for access. There are additional 12 VDC fuses there.

I can't believe that the ground is bad, like I said before if you push the Battery Boost switch on the dash the curtisy lights go on. All the other 12V lights in the coach and the exhaust fans work OK. The only fuse I can find in that circuit is a 7.5 Amp fuse in the power cord compartment marked CURTSY LIGTS - BATT BOST and that fuse is good.

Your C lights work on their own circuit you have a fuse you have found and the ground wire should be in your fuse panel buss bar or tied together with other ground wire to a ground post near fuse panel.
The battery boost is for your starting circuit for engine its not normal for the lights to come on when the boost is operated.
Remove the fuse and see if you get any voltage on the ground lead when you push the boost button should not see any voltage.
Some how you have a cross between the C light circuit and the boost wiring.
Take a look at this PDF it will show a diagram with the AUX START on dash within the circuit wiring has nothing to do with C lights.
When the AUX START or battery boost is operated a solenoid will operate with the heavier wiring and buss bars from your batteries to start your starter for engine.
Spartan has nothing to do with your C lights its the coach builders wiring when your coach was built.
