Has anyone looked into replacing the sewer hose storage tube with one that will actually take the the hose with the RhinoFlex ends?

Steve, Yes I just modified mine a few weeks ago. I bought a 5X5X96 inch pvc fence post from Menards, Item #1728652. It has slots in it for the fence to slide into but it was plenty long between the slots. I pulled out the round piece that was original and cut the back side out of the part behind the door just enough for the new piece to fit. The new post piece just fit around the part behind the door on three sides and I cut a notch on the 4th side. The post comes with a cap and I pop riveted it to the post. I also pop riveted the post to the part behind the door on 3 sides where it slid over the original part. The other end of the post is held in place with a long hose clamp just like my original one was. I drilled a few small drain holes in the bottom side. My hose fits in very easily except for the large end that is stair stepped at the elbow. I remove that part and the elbow fits in, still attached to the hose.
Hope this helps,
Dave

I guess somewhere along the line they stopped adding the tube - mine has one on each side.

That tube was useless. I have never been able to fit any sewer hose into it. Poor design. I understand why they no longer install them.

My '15 LADP has the tube, so they haven't stopped them (at least up through 2015). I just use it to store some wash brush and squeegee poles etc...it's pretty handy for that!

Good luck on your fix.

I have one of those built-in hose storage tubes as well. Useless except for the basic cheap stinky slinky hose used with removable ends as used to be common back years ago.

I now use the 5" square vinyl fence post cover sold at HD or Lowes. It's a good size to hold the Rhinoflex or Valterra Dominator hoses with factory bonded attachment fittings. I mounted it to the underframe just forward of the rear wheels. So useful I mounted three. It comes in white, but is paintable. End caps are available. I use a cut piece of vinyl gutter as a slide-out tray in each one. One cross-coach holder will hold two compressed 15 ft sections of hose.

My 2002 KSDP has the turd hurder storage door/compartment which will accommodate a 10' hose without fittings on either end. JFXG has the right idea with those 5" square fence posts. Not sure I need 3 of them but at least one would be worth the time and effort to install.
