After 9 months in our '07 DSDP, I've finally come to the realization that I despise the radio that came with the coach. It has buttons instead of knobs, terrible AM reception with lots of noise, and really a really inconvenient tuning procedure.

Any good replacement ideas that any of you have found? I do need both cassette tape and cd capabilities, because I run my XM radio through a cassette tape adapter, and we listen to audio books frequently.

Also, does anyone in Michigan know of a good shop that could install it? I'm mostly concerned that the installer not mess up any of the other stuff in the motor home.

Got the same radio! We run our XM thru the FM frequenies so all radios in the coach can pick it up(seems to be better quaility than the tape). We tried going direct to the front radio with XM but picked up a loud noise. Must agree the functions of the radio(especially tuning) are p--- poor. Sorry can't help with a recomendation.

I'm trying to install a Pioneer KEH-P6900BT in my 2003 Scottsdale. As a side bonus it gives me "Hands free" (bluetooth) phone it supports my I-POD (with additional cable). I also bought a Wheel mounted remote. I have installed one in My 1994 Lexus and I love it. I have the original factory Sony (all baloney) in the rig and it is practically WORTHLESS!

If I get anywhere I'll post here.

Think of your radio needs the same way you would if it were in your car. Any of the radio/cd players/mp3 player/etc. that are made for a car are perfect for an RV.

Go to a local car stereo dealer and look & listen to the offerings they have. You won't believe the choices you have when it comes to AM/FM, CD/DVD, MP3, XMR, etc. After you make your choice consider buying it over the internet (cheaper). If you need installation, it's better to buy from a local dealer.

I would stay with one of the major brands that have been superior in this field for years: Pioneer, Sony, Clarion.

Believe me you can get a radio that not only meets all your needs but will keep you up nights reading the manual with all the extra things it can do!

I would stay-away from the Jensen which came with our 08 Grand Star. We are on our second one and need a third as this one is choking.

The Eclipse/Tom Tom radio in my 09 Ventana is nice. I haven't activated the Sirius subscription yet (have it in our daily drivers).

The speakers on the other hand are junk.
