Cummins has received EPA 2010 certification for all the engines. The only one being disconnued is the ISM. It is being replaced with a new ISX10.9, a smaller version of the ISX15. So, like the DD 60 series, the ISX will also come in two sizes. The new small ISX will not be in production until mid 2010. There are currently a number of ISM's still in stock throughout the country.

I hope they save one of those ISMs for a 2011 Essex. I'm hoping not to get the def tank. Sounds like that will be a pain. I got just under the wire with the particle filter on my 2008 MADP may be I'll get lucky on the Urea injection. Any word on the date for the change over in model year on the Essex, now the they made the Dutch Aire into a Mountain Aire?

Thanks, Daryl

The ISM was Cummins' emission "exception" engine. The engine manufacturers negotiated a "corporate wide" emission average (like CAFE for fuel economy) with the EPA for the first big EPA clampdown in 2007 and the ISM was the "dirty" exception. Cummins' other engines more than made up for the ISM emissions and hence it was an EPA "petitioned" engine, that is allowed to be produced as was until the next EPA clampdown in 2010 knocked it out of production.

That is why the ISM never had a DPF and does NOT "technically" need ULSD fuel. Only "legally" in the States does the ISM need ULSD . Hence, all ISMs are Mexico ready engines as is.
