Dan's Hitch
Arrived yesterday afternoon for Factory Pick Up on Monday morning. I had previously made an appointment with Dan's Hitch in Elkhart to have the Jeep wired correctly to avoid depleting its battery while towing. This is a great company to deal with. They are quality and detail oriented. Ryan explained what the best way to set up the install for my Blue Ox tow and Patriot brake. His contention that the best way was not to cut into the factory wiring loom sounded right to me. They installed a second set of LED brake and turn signals in the factory housings, added an electronic battery disconnect, ran the wiring for the breakaway, and installed the power outlet for the brake unit. The tech (Chris) did a clean, excellent install and we hit the road back to Nappanee to wait for Monday.
We can highly recommend Dan's Hitch if you need work done to prep for towing.

Dan's installed my Air Force 1 system last year. Ryan and crew are the best!

It'sd nice for a change, to hear good things about dealers, and not just complaints. Bet you're chomping at the bit to take delivery.

We are indeed most anxious to see the new ride !! Less than 24 hours to go.....
Just a further note about Dan's, we met Dan. The founder still works in the back shop installing. Very nice man, the guys in the shop have a great role model.

I would like to add my two cents to these reviews. I concur with all the previous positive comments. Ryan and his TEAM run a first class operation! I read on another tread that said they were rude. That was not my experience and after sitting in their customer waiting area within ear shot of the front counter for parts of 2 days I can honestly say that at no time did I ever hear even a hint of rudeness or smart aleck comments that another poster on a different thread said they experienced. Yes they are all business and it is clear that they do not like customers to “nag” them about the status of their vehicle, but they are very professional and 100% committed to doing what they can for a customer, even a walk-in like I was during one of their busiest weeks of the year; the week before Memorial Day. I had a base plate problem. I talked to Dan's on a Friday and they told me to bring my truck in on Monday morning for them to look at, but they made it clear that all they could do on Monday was inspect. They didn't make me wait long and within the hour, told me what was wrong. They offered to call Blue Ox for me; something they didn't have to do, but they did. And, it paid off because Blue Ox agreed to cover the cost of the parts. We agreed that although I did not have an appointment and they were really busy being the week before Memorial Day that I could bring the truck back on Thursday and they would do everything they could to fix the problem. They did. I was there all day, but they fixed the problem and I am extremely confident that the job was done correctly. As Ryan said, I insist that the work performed at Dan’s is done as if they vehicle being worked on is his. I can and do recommend Dan's without any reservations.
Regards,

Another thumbs up for Dan's Service Center, nee Dan's Hitch. Met Dan during FPU of our New Aire in April. Ryan liked the rig. They do 350+ installs a year. Had a Blue Ox baseplate, Blue Ox Aladdin towbar, 2 fuse bypass switches, AF 1 system installed on a Chevy Cruze. After almost 4k miles, no problems and no complaints

We were there with abncsm and have the same feedback: great service, very professional. They installed an Air Force one system on our DS4362 with a blue ox baseplate and avail towbar for our Jeep Grand Cherokee. Walked through the install with us to explain everything. Highly recommend them.

Ours was about $4500 including tax. Air Force One coach and tow vehicle, Avail tow bar, blue ox baseplate, tow vehicle lights/wiring, all cables, and tow brake light in the cab.

Leslie,
Thanks
Is the tow brake light wired or wireless?
How long did it take to do,it all. Did Dan’s supply all the parts?
How much lead time did they need?

Yes, it is a wireless brake light in the dash area. They point the light toward the floor so it won’t be too bright at night, but still visible during the day.
For the appointment, I called them about a month in advance, though I was on the early side from my discussion with them.
They supplied all parts. Everything is high quality.
How long did it take? We dropped off the tow vehicle (Jeep Grand Cherokee) on Tuesday. They provided a loaner car (a 1990ish Ford Taurus, but it got us around). We picked up the Jeep on Friday and dropped off the coach for its potion of the install. We returned to Newmar Friday evening with the coach and Jeep for the night. We returned the coach and Jeep on Saturday am for the final install, hookup, etc. the tech went through the install nd how to operate it with us before departing. Seems to me they were done prior to noon on Saturday.
This worked fine for a factory pickup; they could potentially be faster if you were not on a factory pickup.

Ryan Miller and the Team at Dan's Service Center a.k.a. Dan's Hitch do a fantastic professional installation but they are extremely busy so you have to plan or be patient. I wanted a clean install on my truck and below are some pictures they sent during install. They also sent a video and kept me informed of progress. Ryan and the team will work with your installation preferences. I have the Blue Ox Avail, Air Force One and so far happy with everything.

Another shout out for Dan's. Engine check light came on in my toad. Chevy dealer said it was because of air leak from AF1 brake. Called Dan's. Had me look at the check valves. The one into the control box was bad. He contacted SMI/DEMCO. SMI called and will send 2 new check valves to our next stop in Northern California. Customer service after the fact is great.
